At the risk of being accused of showboating, this pristine mint Vac Band Maxima is pretty cool.

Striped duofold vac fillers aren't hard to find, but you'll be looking a long time for one with a matching striped jewel!

In full disclosure, it isn't a Parker jewel (I made it). Still cool looking! ;)

What models are these? They look fab, esp the last one! Parker sure made some interesting nibs, wish they'd put in the same effort nowawdays..

Interesting – never seen these before. Were these spinoffs of thrift time/depression era pens? Those came in so many patterns I don't recall if I've seen that plastic on any of those before.

Parker's combos were in the same time frame as the thrift time pens. Both these patterns are found in other TT pens & pencils.

Today, my daughter gave me a 1937 Parker Vacumatic pen and push top pencil set in the original plastic box inside the original paper box with the factory papers. I'm on cloud nine at the moment. I think they are very valuable, she got them free a a local garage sale! Unbelievable, right!!!!

I need to send the pen and pencil to be restored as the vacumatic filler does not work. Any recommendations as to who does great work in this field? I want top notch professional.

Where are you located. I could possibly recommend someone near you.

What color and model is your pen that may also influence whom I would recommend.

my fist parker was a Parker 75 Sterling Silver Cisele.

Second was a 51 areo demi from ebay for $7.50.

Third an early 21 made with 51 parts really good one for $7.00

Today a 1937 Vacumatic set with all the original boxes and papers the pen has the arrow Nib. This one is from my daughter who scored it for free! She knew I would love it because the box said "Parker".

These all are my favorites.

the 75 was a very inky medium nib which I reground and painfully polished to a very sweet writing fine.

My rarest would be the Parker "Classic Space Pen 1968".

Here is some interesting info on the pen quoting from PenHero.

Quote"

To celebrate the tenth anniversary of NASA, Parker created special edition of 250 sterling silver Ciselé Classic ballpoint pens using a fragment of John Glenn's Atlas booster rocket found in Africa. Engraved on the cap band of each pen is "U. S. A. INTO SPACE" above "20 II 1962," celebrating John Glenn's historic flight. The edition was released in 1968 with the push button being made from the found booster metal. These pens were not made for resale, but Parker used them as gift items to heads of state and key NASA officials, including John Glenn. "unquote.

In the scheme of vintage parker pens not really that rare but these three 51's are my favourites; particularly the grey one. All first year :D

The AX is solid 14K. The entire x series and the Pen of Pens were all solid gold. Unlike Waterman, Parker did not do solid gold much in the early pens-- Parker 40, some Giraffes, some Parker 35s, etc.

The Parker 11 above is GF. Nicer in SS of course.

Heres a pen that looks like it should be 14K but is GF-- never seen one in 14K.

A 1942 DuoVac. These are more commonly known as Striped Duofolds and there are plenty of those around, but this one is significantly, but subtly different, a lot more rare (I think), and a lot more special (at least to me) in my opinion.

I really don't how rare these are, and maybe everyone has one, but it may be one of the rarest in my rather modest collection. I actually have 2, I think, (maybe 3), and I've never seen one for sale (other than the ones I have) or in the wild.

Instead of reinventing the wheel, I'll link you to my blog post about it.

Let me know what you think.

Regards,

Glenn

What I believe is my rarest Parker isn't very rare. A burgundy 45 with an A (accountant) nib. I really have only a 51 Special and about 6 45's including 2 Flighter models.
