Kwz Ink Flame Red

For me Flame Red looks very brown. Personally I'm not a big fan of these red brown colours. But I'm sure many will enjoy this ink, especially Red Dragon lovers.

(Close enough. Flame Red is more orange.)

This one looks great

I knew you would. Me, too.

Due to Lgsoltek's beautiful samples, I had to order some. It arrived yesterday, and I'm wondering if I have a bad batch. Has anyone else has noticed a very strong odor from this ink? Normally I don't mind the smell of inks, but this one smells strongly of turpentine or solvent. Curious about others' experiences with this ink.

The KWZ inks all have a rather strong smell. It doesn't bother me though. It should be safe for human, according to what Konrad said.

I did not find this color to be dry at all. I thought it was a med-slightly wet ink. I put it in a pen today. It seems to have good behavior. It is more like a very ripe tomato red to me. It is a little on the bright side, and will get your attention. Nowhere near retina searing though. Red Dragon is more red, and darker. Flame Red has a little more orange brown to it, than Red Dragon. I do like both of the colors mentioned.

Thank you for the review. :)

I happen to love Diamine Red Dragon and it's cheaper to buy than KWZ Flame Red, so, for now, I will stick with what I have. :)

Thanks so much for your review, Lgsoltek! I ordered a bottle based on your review and like this ink quite a bit. I'm using it in my Red Dubonnet Esterbrook J with #2284 (Signature Broad) nib and it has been very well behaved.

So many great reds...so little time.

Depending on pen, paper and wetness these two can look quite similar!

Thanks for the great comparison. I have kept Ancient Copper loaded in one pen or another for years. It is a permanent member of my rotation. There is something so very appealing about it —at least to me!

Ain't it the truth?! I'm trying to find just the right pen for Flame Red —so far, the pens I've it in have not done it justice. It dried down a little bit dull, so I need to try it in a more generously flowing pen to see if that gives a little more life to it.

We'll see what I can come up with, but it certainly won't be as beautiful as Lgsoltek's images!
