Some of the Lamy range are pretty slim, but I'm sorry, I have no measurements. Good luck in your search.

I have one of those 1122 Montblanc Noblesse pens. It came without a converter, but there are 2 options that I've used with this pen that work fine.

1) The Monteverde miniconverter works just fine with this pen

https://www.goldspot.com/products/monteverde-refills-mini-ink-converter-fountain-pen

Goldspot pens sells these, along with a lot of other places. They are cheap...like about $3.

2) When you place an order with Goldspot they often include a free inexpensive demonstrator fountain pen (in looks like a rebranded Jinhao). As luck would have it, the converter in this pen fits the original Noblesse series perfectly. It also fits my similar Dunhill pens which were made by Montblanc.

I also like using thin pens....others i own that are equally thin include the original Cross Century, Waterman Prograduate, Parker Vector, among others. The Montblanc Noblesse 1122, however, is the best of the bunch....a most wonderful, under-stated pen with a perfect writing nib, It's worth getting a converter for and not bothering to replace it unless you are "jonesing" for something new.

The heck with all those other pens. You can get a converter to fit, Schmidt steel or Monteverde. Everybody here is perfectly willing to convert you to their pen religion though. I have a MB 144, old 1980s type, red with black section. Needs the push converter. I have secured one MB push converter, and I am not using the pen at present. Good to know there are reasonable alternatives.

what converter did you try that didn't work with your mb slim/noblesse?

Schmidt K5 treadless international converter - the nipple connection was good but the bottom of the converter is too wide and gets stuck. I also tried the Waterman converter but the nipple attachment didn't hold. Someone recommended a Waterman converter with a metal top (I had the one with a black plastic top) and I ordered his recommendation on EBay but it didn't work at all! Thanks for sharing your slim pen collection.

I just ordered the Monteverde converter you recommended from Goldspot. Is there anyway I can insure they'll also send the free demo pen with converter?

One I would highly recomend and that has a 5/16" dia at the section is ANY model of Parker's 75.

Interestingly enough, I just ordered one of those this morning!

Don't rule out vintage Waterman from the 1980/90's, the Executive and Exclusive. The section grip on both is 8mm diameter.

Solid gold nibs and soooo smooooth.

Thank you. Those look beautiful!

If slim is important, I'd definitely take a look at the Cross Century, the Sailor Chalana, and the now harder-to-find Pilot Birdie, in descending order of diameter. I believe you will find all to be well-made and excellent writers, and well within your 5/16. The latter two are so slender that they start conversations even among non-enthusiasts.

It's slightly thicker than you wish for... Section diameter 9.8 mm...

That's right at 8mm.

One of the slimmest pens I've ever had was a Pilot 78G, about 8.4mm at the section (IIRC). Lots of people love these pens, and the B is effectively a stub. They are made of plastic and have a screw-on cap. I believe the Metropolitan has the same section/nib unit, but a wider brass barrel and a snap-on cap. I find it easier to deal with Pilot cartridges than converters. I just pull out the little cap that gets wedged in there when you use it, and refill as needed with a disposable bulb pipette (might also be possible with an eyedropper).

Ruth is correct in suggesting that the Parker Vector would be even a bit more slim. I forgot I have a Vector calligraphy set.

Look at the Pilot Cavalier (not sure of the exact measurement, but it's nearly the same as my Waterman Laureate)

They're less expensive from J-Subculture, even with shipping from Japan than other sites I've seen. The measurements on the J-Subculture site is the shipping box size - it's not a 2" wide pen!

The now discontinued Elysee pens made in Germany fit your description. Although some of the more exotic ones go for exotic prices you should still be able to find the more common models on eBay. They were made from brass with buttery smooth medium nibs and used international carts or a convertor. They are also tough. My first one made two unintended trips through the laundry apparatus on an aircraft carrier after I accidentally left it in a flight suit pocket. It not only survived the ordeal but didn't leak a bit.
