Mine came off this morning as I shampooed my hair.

Gee, I wonder if it covered any of the grey?

Could you tell if it did?

I have a bottle of this too. I really like this ink, and plan to buy a bottle once they come up for sale. I heard it was going to be a battleship gray. I was told some people saw a hint of blue in it. I didn't. I did a swab on Black N Red, and I saw what looked like Pine Green to me. This ink shades well on quality paper. On ivory Clairefontaine I saw gray. On most white paper I saw a hint of pine green. The color is dark with the nib I was using, a broad cursive italic. The gray was very pleasing, and the shading was very dark...just the way I like it. This one is definitely a keeper for me!

I'll get a bottle because I'm collecting greys. But... IYAM it is by no means a and/or "the" battleship grey which is a well-known colour description of a truly "light to middle grey, possibly with a touch of blue" as used, yes on those (and other such) ships. What I see above is a very dark grey with more than a touch or two of teal! No harm meant. I mean, it is a new grey!

Yes, it is different, and it is very pretty. I sorta see a teal, but when you swab it, on certain paper I see a pine/dark green too. It looks different on every paper I've put it on. I think they did a great job on a unique color.

I tried to do the drop on a paper towel. It came out as black. There is a teal/green hint to this ink and the wider the nib, the more it goes to black. The F nib I used from the Reform makes it look like a ballpoint that is skipping or has the stupid line on the ball!

Seems to be near bulletproof.

I like this ink and will keep it in regular rotation.

My friend pointed out something I had missed. The ship shown on the label is not the USS Texas I normally think of... I had assumed it was BB-35, the ship at the San Jacinto Memorial. The ship on the label is the original American battleship, a pre-dreadnaught that never had a number. It was sort of a half-sister to the USS Maine (different armaments) and was renamed as the USS San Marcos when BB-35 was named.

It is an interesting ink and one that I need to do some more testing with. I'm curious to see what it will do on Tomoe River paper.

Thanks for bringing that up. Here is an article on that.

I picked up one of the Dallas Pen Show 30 ml bottles. Thanks Dromgooles and Nathan. In a Safari f nib (a very wide f) I can see a hint of green. Next to a turquoise ink a whisper of blue, too. I look forward to trying it on other papers.

I have a bottle of this ink. I have only tested it by dipping a pen to write and I did a swipe with a q-tip. I'm coming away with a good first impression. Really need to step up the writing so I can empty a pen and get this ink into rotation.

Well, this ink and the other 4 new inks I bought at the show.

An easier solution: buy more pens - they always come empty and ready to ink!!

  • 3 weeks later...

I have it loaded in a Lamy 1.1. I can see the grey without a problem. In a F nib, is going to look black, at least to me.

I couldn't take it, I had to go look at the images for the ship. Darn if it isn't exactly the right color for the ship.

Wow. Not seeing any blue in that grey at all, but it sure had a green tint to it....
