Cross New Blue-Black Impressions

Thank you, dear Visvamitra for your ever thoroughly done review! Although I love blue black inks, this one doesn't catch me... and above all it strongly displeases me that it is manufactured in China. I love China and highly appreciate Chinese products. But does Cross really have to produce its inks in China?

Hmm.... I thought they made and still do Chinese ink... it makes quite a difference when you use it in your fountain pen.

Cross is not an american brand anymore...like others..Waterman is French..Sheaffer Chinese...and a long etc..

By the way, I just got a bottle of Cross black ink for $5USD in amazon Mexico, it must be an old batch because it looks different, the bottle, label and box says "Made in Germany".

The new ones are "Made in China".

Maybe made by Hero, but it is a bit grey-er than the Hero version

 

This new Cross blue-black looks a lot like the new Hero 232 blue-black I just got. Same color and shading.

After using the ink for 18 months, I like it well enough to order another bottle. I didn't expect it to become a favorite, but it has, and is now one I use the most.

I'm certain it's not a Pelikan ink any more, but I have nothing but experience that says so. The bottle says it's made in China In English, French, and Spanish. I've never seen a brand yet that ever mentioned the place where the bottle came from.

 

And I've seen many inks that mention their origin on the bottle. This includes other famous American brands; Shaeffer makes no more claims it's ink is now made here, and neither does Parker. Since Cross never tried to claim their Pelikan ink came from anywhere but Germany, I don't think that their brand is now made in China would make any difference to them.

 

Especially when the one color I've used has been pretty darned good ink. I've used several Pelikan inks, and the new Cross is different, but it's as easy and trouble free as the Pelikan, and the archival claim on the new ink is accurate enough; it is much more water resistant than the Pelikan.

That make sense. Some pretty amazing blue-black inks are made in China, so it doesn't surprise me that this batch is good. I just wonder who is manufacturing it for them. It seems to have similar properties to Hero 232 Blue-black, so I wonder if there's a connection.
