Seitz Kreuznach Slate Grey

I bought Standardgraph Anthracite, and it was basically identical in color, similar price, even the same bottle shape. The Seitz bottle had a nicer label, though, so I'd stick with Slate Grey. This color is so nice to write with on cream paper.

Great review!

Grey is still an underrated color but I'm with those who like it a lot. Always nice to see a new candidate :D

Some of the Standardgraph I have feather like crazy. Does their Anthracite feather as well? Slate Grey behaves very well.

I was just about to ask which line of inks behaves better over all. Thanks!

I should add that SK inks are not all good performers. Slate Grey is exceptional with its smoothness and wetness. Some others are quite watery, or dry, or feathery...

Yikes. Another inexpensive brand that I'm eager to try is Rohrer & Klingner. Due to their popularity, can I safely guess that these inks are mostly well-behaved and nicely wet?

I would say so. I love R&K inks. Well-behaved, nice range of colours and inexpensive. Ive got the whole line.

I am also a fan of R & K inks. They are not all "nicely wet," but the ones that aren't so wet are special in their own ways. For example, Scabiosa is a strange and wonderful ink, not "nicely wet" but incomparable.

I was actually surprised I had no issues with it on any paper - even my cheap $1.50 cream notebooks. Used it in both a fine and broad nib, no problems. I also had a few other Standardgraph inks, and they feathered like crazy and were too wet for me to write with regularly. So maybe Anthracite is the exception?

Thanks very much for the information, very helpful. My favorite R&K is Alt-Goldgrun. Beautiful wet ink with with nice shading.

Love all, trust a few, do harm to none. Shakespeare
