The Best/easiest Way To Remove Ink From Hands, Nails, & Clothing

What kills me is: I know better.

I know to take my time. Not to rush. Wear protective gloves when I'm refilling ink cartridges.

And I know nothing takes a minute. So this is all on me.

You know how this ends.

Ink EVERYWHERE.

And not just any ink. But my Kon-Peki ink that I miser into syringes like liquid gold, like it's the antidote..

Under my nails, surrounding my cuticles, on my white t-shirt, basement floor, sink, walls.

Usually, Lava soap and scrubbing does the trick for my skin/hands. But the Kon-Peki ink is stubborn. It's still under my nails and cuticles.

My t-shirt - I spritzed with Shout - left it out, spritzed some more. Washed it. I swear the ink dots multiplied and it looks like a Jackson Pollack tribute.

So after you stop laughing, I'll take any solutions for hands and nails, then clothes.

Thank you, forumers.

Hand sanitizer will take ink off hands, nails and out of fabric, but I've never tried to get ink out of white. It takes a lot of hand sanitizer and you have to rub/scrub it off of hands and nails. Let it soak into the stain on fabric and then wash on cold, soak again and wash again if it doesn't all come out.

I buy it 2-3 pump bottles at a time now.

Sorry for your mess :(

Amodex. Got mine @ nibs.com (no affiliation).

Like with all mechanical or chemical methods for removing stains, there are no sure fire methods, but this (liquid) product has worked well for me.

Best of luck.

Don't feel like the Lone Ranger. I've had some pretty aweful spills , as well. I've used regular ole' household cleaner with bleach to remove stubborn ink out of my finger nails

For hands I use Ink Nix before getting your hands wet from washing. I then follow with Lava and a nail brush, Shampoo iwhile washing my hair tends to get any last remnants. For clothing nothing beats Amodex. Put it on then blot it with paper towels over and over then a reapplication before laundering. Good luck.

Some inks use lake dyes in common with nail polishes-- and blue and green lake dyes stain nails like nothing else!

I use my Blue Cross Cuticle Remover (available at Sally Beauty, and I'm sure elsewhere) when this happens to my nails. It's essentially a weak lye solution with some lanolin added to make it nicer on skin. I soak a cotton pad in the remover, and hold it to the stained area for a few minutes. The stain is noticeably lessened!

For more ideas on removing lake dye stains from nails, see LabMuffin's massive science-y post about it.

It works on ink stains too, depending on the ink. I wouldn't use it on cloth, though, only skin.

For hands, regular old shampoo will work. I just do it when I shower and wash my hair. Your hair will act like a brush.
