What Would You Like To See Coming From Franklin-Christoph?

To be fair to FC, they don't appear to be looking to the Stock Room as a money spinner. I also assume the prototypes at pens shows are the same price as their normal editions. I think they do this as a genuine treat for those that can make it to a pen show or spot the new additions to the Stock Room. I myself doubt I'll ever be able get a prototype being over the in the UK with limited time and money to visit a US pen show. I have been able to get some Stock Room items, and for that I am grateful as they do tend to be more "interesting."

That said I think they are inviting avoidable frustration. I do wonder whether they can cycle through materials on the website faster or have a prototype lucky dip as a buying option.

Other I guess they could go more custom like Edison but I assume they have considered this and don't want to either: 1) to copy Edison's approach too closely, 2) increase prices or 3) have extra complication of a customised product.

If the more exotic/prototype materials are more time consuming/expensive I'm not sure it would be a massive issue to charge a bit of a premium for them so maybe they should consider this.

I know the pain Hejhox, but you can occasionally get lucky with their stockroom (I did) or at a UK pen show. While the 20 I picked up at the London Show last year was a stock model, one of the occasional attendees at the London Pen Club turned up at the last meet with a Jonathan Brooks acrylic model 31 which she picked up at the Cambridge Pen Show.

Big fan of F-C. Have several of their pens and numerous more nibs. I agree on their marketing strstegy, but it is a calculated risk in their part.

I too would really like to see a collaboration between F-C, Jonathan Brooks, and FPN for a new FPN LE.

"But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us." (Rom. 5:8, NKJV)

Almost deviated from my plan at the Triangle Pen Show to buy a pen from Jonathan Brooks - some of his materials are something else! A pen from him has risen high on my list.

I did - if the 45 models they had in blue and gold took #6 nibs I would have returned my model 03 for one in a heartbeat: but I can't bring myself to return it just to wait for "what if" they release a 02/03/20 in Brooks materials...

I’ve been in contact with the F-C staff on several occasions (mostly email) and once in person at the DC pen show. They are just all around great people—accommodating, kind, and professional. Great quality pens and inks. I admit to being frustrated by their business strategies at times as well but also acknowledge that it’s just supply and demand. They’re not a big company, and with their limited resources, I appreciate them trying to devise new ways to get their products to customers as fairly as possible. They could certainly increase prices given the demand, but they haven’t, which I also appreciate. Obviously, I would like more color offerings on their website as well, but if not maybe just rotate what’s available more frequently just so I have something to see when I check out the available stock options.

I was just at the DC show where they have a batch of 02 and 31 in the new Brooks material. Its gorgeous! I saw the 45s earlier but I generally dont use that model so I was happy to see they had other options at the show. A very dark blue/black with stunning gold swirls. Truly something to see in person. Ive enjoyed each Brooks special edition thus far and cant wait to see what they do next!

Im certainly appreciative that they dont increase their prices when they definitely could. And more so that they try come up with new ways to allow an opportunity for anyone in the world to get a stock room pen. They could stick to one way and not care if some people can buy while others cant. The fact that they are trying different methods to reach out as best they can really says something about their character and how they care about their clients.

Ive been a supporter for a number of years and seeing how fast theyve grown in such a short time while trying to meet the demands of their clients is amazing. I cannot imagine how busy it is on a day to day basis there. Ive seen a glimpse of how it is at pen shows and its non stop crowds at their tables. Their customer service team is so helpful. Mandy and Audrey are two of the nicest people and really care about their clients. Really if you need anything or have questions send them an email or give them a call.

As far as what I would like to see thats a tough question for me. I quite enjoy being surprised by what Scott designs and seeing the variety that this company is branching out towards. Pens, pencils, leather goods, watches, belts, wallets, etc. Im ready for whats next!! And I know with Franklin-Christoph theres always something thats next.

I would like to see single pen sleeves incorporating the beveled design.

(Something like the sadly gone Sula Jane & Earl)

I will also reiterate my request for a pocket 02 and will add a request for a blue/black and purple/black Intrinsic (in the style of Sangria and Gold Rising)

One wish I had before was a slightly longer 45 XLV, it's nice that has been done in the 45L XLV. I ordered one in solid ice the other day. It's good having the option of a converter as well as cartridge or eyedropper. It's still a pocket pen no longer the a p66. I sold my 45 and p66 when I got tired of eyedropper models. That said I might just eyedropper the 45L. It's having options that is nice and the extra length makes it even better to use unposted when needed. Now if they only made it with a #6 nib ;)

I'd really like to see Franklin-Christoph offer the Model 46 XLVI FP with a clip.

The dimensions on that pen are perfect, it's a great full size pen, with a #6 nib, but for some reason they don't offer it with a clip : (
