What Would You Like To See Coming From Franklin-Christoph?

I would love to see more antique glass offerings. I'm patiently waiting for models 03 and 20 to be available in antique glass! I'm a huge fan of F-C pens. So disappointed that I missed out on the 66 offerings.

I agree with you about wanting to see more antique glass pens. I would especially like to see the model 20 in antique glass. I just picked up a beautiful bronze 20 from Wonder Pens. Now a nice antique glass 20 would round out my collection.

Entry level pens

Which begs the question of what you qualify as "entry level". The Collegia is what FC has labeled as their "entry level" fp.

Cheap? User friendly? It's not like we're talking complex mechanisms or precious materials in the more expensive models.

This oft implies affordability and the use of cartridges.

Entry level pens are, in my opinion, affordable (cheap implies cheaply made, from my perspective) pens, that might appeal to a more broad market share instead of the niche where they are positioned now.

I am unaware what is the custom oversea, but often times at least in Italy, fountain pens are a gift for graduation or to commemorate a special milestone. It is rare for someone to actually buy a fountain pen to use it.

I picked up the habit thanks to a (very) cheap pen I have received as gift. It was *terrible*, weighted a ton, had the scratchiest and driest nib available straight from China and only accepted short international cartridges.

I would like a PANTHER #40 standard, not pocket. It doesn't have to have a band. I liked the #20 Marietta, but I wasn't in love with it. I do love my #2, and it has been a good pen. I liked the look of the coke bottle, and clear demonstrators. I love translucent pens, but most of the latest offerings have not done it for me. The Maya Blue was pretty. I loved the 45 special edition (with dark purple and emerald green acrylic), but the pen size was not right for me. I like a pen that posts deeply. I have held the standard #40 and loved it. But I would also like to see more color options. I have two of their inks, and love them. I have a penvelope, and their paper too. Love those as well. I love the Blue-Violet, and the Coco-Pearl looks good, from what little I can make from their photographs.

I now own 3 of F-C pens:

1. Pocket 40 ice - Fine nib, now exchanged to 1.1 italic

2. 66P ice - Masuyama Medium stub (My favorite nib so far)

3. XLV 45 coco pearl (their new Medium S.I.G nib, doesnt have much line variation for me so far, is it supposed to have more line variation than a stub?)

I have to say F-C is now my favorite pen maker due to their great designs and good ink flow and their offering of stubs and italics. Their free postage is great since I live in Australia and they normally cost quite a bit to get it sent to me.

I like compact pens and would like to see new models around 4' mark.

This is one nice colour I would like F-C to have back in stock.

Just something about their ordering system too. At the moment I can't check what I have ordered through F-C on their website. It would be nice to see my purchase history to see what pens and nibs I have purchased in the past.

I absolutely love my Franklin Christoph Panther 40. I was lucky enough to pick up one of their prototypes at the Denver show last year. I paired it with a Matsuyama 14K medium italic nib and it is my very favorite pen. Yes, it does have the beautiful ring sandwiched between the two other pieces of the top section, and I know it took a great deal to make that.

But, I would opt for the manufacture of the Panther 40 without the ring. It might cost allow for more production of these wonderful pens.

I would love to see a greater variety of colors in the acrylics. My Panther is a brown shimmer, which is gorgeous. I would love to see a light blue shimmer, or perhaps a rose shimmer. While I know every professional wants black, having a cadre of black pens becomes uninteresting.

Also, I love the inks, but would like to see a larger selection of colors.

The banding in FC pens is also a problem for eye droppers. You can actually unscrew the back of the model 19, apply grease then assemble. The walls of the FC pens are thick and make excellent eye droppers. I'd like to see ebonite and a run of different acrylics but therein is the lure of FC pens. Limited colors and limited runs.

I read an interview of Franklin Chistoph's CEO/chief designer Scott Franklin (See here and here, it's a really good read) done in 2012, and he really hit on what it is about the designs of F/C that I like so much: the uniqueness. After reading that I'm ok with the limited color palette because it gives them their character. One can look at a Franklin Christoph and be able to know what it is instantly.

This, to me, hits the nail on the head. By keeping those fancy colors and finishes limited they stay special, rare, and desirable. They're something exciting to look out for while, at the same time, keeping the few normal finishes special and uniquely Franklin Christoph as well. It's a balance I think they've done really well keeping. That said, I bet a Franklin Christoph in Ebonite would be stunning!

I've got a Model 66 in antique glass (Masuyama med italic) but it's going to get sold on. There's just too little consistency in the company offerings to tempt me again. Life is too short. At the moment I'm waiting for a Jowo broad cursive italic from another source. After comparison of nibs I will make a final choice.

Overall I've not been terribly impressed with my pen, and it's not one I reach for very often. Expensive failed experiment I guess. Sorry to add a negative note, but not everyone feels the same way.

I'd like to see a vac filler or other filling mechanism besides eyedropper/CC.

Inked: Aurora Optima EF (Pelikan Tanzanite); Franklin Christoph Pocket 20 Needlepoint (Sailor Kiwa Guro); Sheaffers PFM I Reporter/Fine (Diamine Oxblood); Franklin Christoph 02 Medium Stub (Aurora Black); Platinum Plaisir Gunmetal EF (Platinum Brown); Platinum Preppy M (Platinum Blue-Black). Leaded: Palomino Blackwing 602; Lamy Scribble 0.7 (Pentel Ain Stein 2B); Uni Kuru Toga Roulette 0.5 (Uni Kuru Toga HB); Parker 51 Plum 0.9 (Pilot Neox HB)

Hello everyone,

Franklin-Christoph has a new color for the Model 03 Iterum: a swirly dark brown pen with a white crown called "Coco and Creme".

I just ordered one, and I'm looking forward to seeing it in the (plastic) flesh.

Scientia potentia est.

Different colors would be nice. I think Edison and Newton will always keep it fresh with different colors, keeping their designs stable. The one thing that FC did was keeping the threads of the section at the end of the section, away from the fingers. A huge selling point and genius.

Waiting/hoping to see a Model 02 or 03 in Antique Glass and a Model 19 in Coco & Creme. If anyone from F-C is reading this,... please make this happen! :)

Hi all. On the run today so won't get into posting all the yes, no, and maybes. But someone brought this to my attention so I wanted to thank everyone for their input.

We will be having lots of new things starting at the Philly Show this year. Limited editions for the show only in pens, leather and an ink. Also new colors in the models unveiled, and the 40 Panthers with single bands, which will be more prevalent next year. We've achieved our 2016 goal of doubling our output with more to come in 2017, so lots of new soon.
