Tom, thank you for surprising welcome. For me, 149 90 Anniversary edition of the nib OBBB is amazing. At the same time contrasts and complements with my classic gold 149 with nib F. Definitely writing nib OBBB makes a lot of fun. Slowly getting used to a different style of writing with a pen. I did not expect that writing such a wide nib as OBBB can give so much pleasure. I had high expectations after reading this thread. It did not disappoint, fully confirmed the opinions of users of broad nib. There is no turning back. It is fun!

So, now that I'm comparing every day so different nibs, also as I write nib F it makes me much more pleasure than before, which to me is a pleasant surprise.

The Platinum OBBB arrived yesterday, just in time for my birthday. It was shipped on 12/9--no explanation for the delay, but it's in perfect condition. See photos on the Red OBBB thread.

We've all been hoping that you've been enjoying your new Platinum 149 OBBB.

After getting used to writing with it, I hope that it's been giving you as much pleasure as mine gives to me.

Someone offered to buy mine for what I originally paid. That generous offer was politely but firmly declined.

What an amazing thread with lots of pictures. Too bad I did not read this topic back in 2016/2017. It was a period that I was into watches more than pens.

Just got back into pens in 2020 and got myself the exact same pen, a MB 149P OBBB.

Thanks to @Ghost Plane and @Tom Kellie  for advocating for OBBB.

Oh and Ghost Plane's is right about using J. Herbin inks for this fantastic nib. My pen dances when I load it with Perle Noire and Bleu des Profondeurs.

Beautiful. I bought mine in July/August 2021. It wrote good out of the box. I switched to J. Herbin ink, and It wrote amazing!!! I try to use the pen everyday.

Hopefully more people will convert to this amazing nib.

Thank you, Tom. That’s my second OBBB. My first I bought in 2013. Yes, they both are truly the brushes, I love to use them.
Stay safe, Zdenek

PS: Of course this new one has got its own pages in my FP’s logbook. 🙂

It took 8 weeks to do the nib exchange to O3B! Does it typically take that long? It seemed Montblanc didn't have any OBBB nibs in stock and had to make a batch. Anyway, any tips on how to hold and use a O3B, because it seems I have to hold it at just the right angle (not too steep or too shallow) and rotate the pen just right for the sweet spot. A round nib seems to be more forgiving. Yes, this is my first oblique nib. I've nib smoothed all my round nibs using mylar and 12000 grit for extra smoothness, but I better leave well enough alone with the O3B as I don't know how to go about nib smoothing an oblique nib. How would I nib smooth an oblique nib, do the same as with a round nib?? Thanks in advance.

Love seeing the various writing samples, and am a big fan of OB nibs, but an OBBB seems a B too far !

Thank you for your kind comment on the handwriting samples.

Montblanc OBBB nibs are great fun for daily writing and sketching.

After a brief period of familiarization with their quirks, they're steady performers.

What are the quirks? I’m trying write with it. Sometimes I hit the smooth spot and it’s great, but I’m not consistent. It seems too easy to lose the right angle and grip for smoothness.
