New Zealand Pass Around Ink Sample Library?

Hi everyone,

New to the forum and FP game, also based in Dunedin. I count three of us!

If people wanted to do get a local ink swap going or a joint buy for pens/ink to save on shipping at some point, I would be keen. I have a small collection of R&K inks.

Cheers

Hi there! Nice to meet our third Dunedinite!

Hi there. You mean like Indian inks for calligraphy and drawing? or fountain pen inks available in India?

What are you looking at studying over here? Best of luck for finding a University!

Just going through my ink stocks here and decided am not using the Lamy Blue and Lamy Green enough to keep them on the shelf. Both about 50% full. Free to a good home in NZ if anyone is interested.

I would love one (or both) of these inks as they were 2 of my favourite inks inks in the ink samples that are going round. The Lamy Green is really vivid and most unusual, and the Lamy Blue reminds me of the Stephens Radiant Blue that I gew up with (and for which I have very fond nostalgic memories). I would be more than happy to pay for them if you let me know how much,

I will post a longer report on the samples soon, and will add to them before passing them on.

Fountain pen inks. Bril/Camlin/Daytone. Have a look and let me know.

I'm planning to do my masters in law, and hopefully I'll end up with a job there.

Thanks!

The 27 ink samples have been extremely interesting as I had tried none of them before, and I don't think I would have bought any of them without seeing and trying them first.

I am not a great connoisseur of inks, and found I liked most of them! I was particularly attracted to the two Lamy inks as stated above as they were both (the green and the blue) bright and vivid.

The Iroshizuku inks had the least feathering of all on Laser Copy Paper, but I found, but all the inks behaved well on top quality paper.

After the Lamy inks, the most pleasing to me was the Iroshizuku Asa-Gao (a Blue) and the Iroshizuku Yama-Bundo (a maroon).

The Diamine Carnival appealed to me but, like the Lamy Green, it may shock a few recipients with it's brightness. (I just like to spice life up a little).

I have added to the samples with Noodler's "Purple Wampum", which is an extremely wet ink and I have found works best with a fine to extra fine nib,and also I have also added Noodler's "Ottoman Rose" , Diamine "Ochre", and Waterman "South Seas Blue".

As an aside, I use Noodler's "Purple Wampum" as a test ink for different types of paper, as only the very best papers do not feather with this ink.

My sincere thanks to all the members for this opportunity to test these inks, but particularly to the orginiser--- HarrietHippo.

I will post the samples on tomorrow morning to Cdub24.

I forgot to say I have included with the sample inks 10x 3ml PE pipettes for members to keep if they wish, as I have a suplus of them.

Law? You need to come and enrol at Otago. Best law school in the country! :D

Hehe, I wish I could. Unfortunately I do not meet the criteria for admission.

Attained at least a B+ in 2 pieces of sustained writing involving legal research

But perhaps there is some equivalent standard of criteria for an Indian LLB degree. I shall email them and find out.

Cheers!

Ink samples couriered to Cdub24 this morning.

Thanks again for the oportunity to try them. This was a brilliant idea and seems to be working well.

I now have a written sample of each of the inks in a notebook so I can refer to them in future.

Unfortunately I will miss out on any samples added by others!

Hi , I'm sure you will enjoy studying in NZ whichever University you go to. They are all great. Each University has their own merits, and each city is unique. Being a student in NZ was the nost enjoyable time of my life (and I managed to study for a total of 10 years---different degrees at different Universities!). I'm positive you will not regret coming here to New Zealand.

With regard to the Indian inks, i was most impressed by several reviews on FPN by Indian members and so I decided to buy some Brill Inks. I was quite excited at the prospect of trying these inks, only to find that the manufacturer in India ,in Bangalore, would not ship them overseas because of postal regulations. I was extremely disapointed and tried several other ways to buy Brill ink, but to no avail. Do you know any way of getting them sent out to New Zealand?

Regards

Peter

Looking forward to them arriving! I think the intention is the "box" to make a few circuits so we all get a chance to try different inks as we all add to them so you won't miss out!

Aye, I hope I get admission.

I currently have a few bottles of Bril Royal Blue, some Bril Turquoise, and maybe a Bril Green. I haven't checked the rules for carrying liquids in my luggage, but I should be able to bring you some.
