My goodness, I'm afraid I would need bigger Checks to be able to use that nib for my signature! WOW

Ah, but the secret is to change the angle of the nib relative to the axis of your stroke.

The O3B nib is a special order option on the 149, at no additional cost. It has two tines. The Signature Nib is a bespoke nib with three tines, and is not an oblique. $$$$

Well not according to the Montblanc point of sale catalogue (photo to follow) which clearly states on the 149 features page :

CLIP : Gold-plated clip with individual serial number

SPECIAL CHARACTERISTICS : Signature nib (O3B) available as a replacement.

I also am pretty sure that the O3B which was fitted to my solid gold 149 was a two tine type.

Guys slow down.

The guide above is obviously from the time of 'sepia' and 'turquoise' and 'racing green' etc. It is outdated. I believe that in this period, the O3B was referred to as a signature nib and it was regular 2 tines.

Nowadays Montblanc markets a different Signature nib that's three tines and it is huge.

Didn't I mention this elsewhere? :)

Or...it was...at one time in the past.

It provides a fine signature but certainly is nowhere near the mighty line provided by the 6B nib in Pravda's previously posted image.

“Signature nib”, what exactly art thou...in 2016?

Yes it does seem that different era 'signature nibs' have varying specifications. Either way they are all stunning ! :)

To this day I use a 149 EEF, a 149 EF, two Classique EFs, and a Mozart EF which writes like an EEF. For specialized tasks they exceed all of my expectations....

If it's not too much trouble, could you show a writing sample and pic of your EEF and EF Montblanc nibs? I tend to favor finer nibs and often have to have my European EFs reground to give a finer line so that I can use them. I'd be curious to see how the above look / write.

Here you are, just snapped this as another sample to demonstrate the ludicrous nibbage (is that a word?) on the current Signature nib.

And it is oblique cut btw. Below it is also a brief sample of the Calligraphy nib which is very similar.

...........and for even more personalised nibs you could always get MB to examine your writing & pen holding in detail then create one for you. Below is a copy of a sheet that relates to virtually ever aspect of pen useage you could imagine.

I hope that what has caused this change is not too serious.

Oh.. I just worked on improving my handwriting, particularly to accommodate larger nib widths and/or obliques trying to bring out the line variation :)
