Diamine Oxblood. Nice Red

Diamine Oxblood is a fairly well behaved ink. Unlike the other Diamine I have (Sargasso Sea), the Oxblood feathers a lot less. Its a nice red color, goes on brown and dries redder. But its not really the Oxblood red that one might see on Oxblood dyed leather goods. See attached image.

How do you guys find it when cleaning pens/nibs ?

Reason I ask is I recently got 7 ink samples. For each of them I loaded them in to the same fountain pen - dipping the nib right in, drawing up ink with the cartridge converter, then pushing all the ink out again, wiping excess from the nib, screwing back on the barrel, then test writing. On completion I ran the nib under flowing water, using the converter to draw water in and out a few times, then remove the converter and ran water through the nib and the converter, then placed both in separate small bowls of water. For the other 6 samples, 3 of which were also Diamine, I had no problem, but for the Oxblood sample the nib just would not clean and needed several water changes when soaking (the other Diamine inks were Ancient Copper, Turquoise, and Eau de Nil)

@dapprman Oxblood is indeed a pain to clean (and Red Dragon not much better). There's a magenta ink component that hangs around -- same issue with Imperial Blue though not as bad. Ironic since the water resistance is so poor

I soak the section overnight usually. Even better if you can extract the feed and soak that (e.g. with a Noodler's Ahab). You can see a film of pink/red dye coming off under the water level.

One of the reasons I use Diamine orange inks rather than red for markup

As others have indicated, it's a lovely color and behaves well, but cleanup is a pain in the arse. I ended up dedicating a Lamy Safari to it.

I still like Montblanc Alfred Hitchcock more. Unfortunately, the marketing wizzards at MB have stopped selling such a beautiful ink that is in hot demand. What is the point, MB? Wake up.

I adore Oxblood... It looks like a gorgeous warm burgundy on most papers to my eye. But just a caution, it is a smearing monster on non-absorbent paper, like Tomoe River.

Love that colour... too dark to be red, too red to be brown... I love shades "in between".

It feels like the right ink for signing pacts with the devil or with a vampire
