Platinum Preppy Cartridge Issues

I just purchased a Platinum Preppy, and am having trouble inserting the included cartridge into the pen. Any hints or suggestions?

Insert cartridge into slot - turn pen upside down, rest it on the table and push down. This should give you enough force to dislodge the ball bearing. Just a bit more force.
