Flex Nib For A Skyline

Recommended Posts

I bought a Skyline recently...not my usual thing, but they're so pretty, but the nib was a nail. I've been searching somewhat obsessively for a flexible nib to replace the one in the pen, and I've discovered that the rather breezy assurances that "Oh, yeah, there's all kinds of flex nibs in Skylines" is somewhat overdone.

Anyone know the real score?

You have discovered an application of Farmboy Flex Theorem Number 2.

All nibs are more flexible when selling a pen than they are when buying a pen.

If you buy enough of them you will run into flexible nibs. Skylines seem to have a higher percentage of flex nibs than do other models such as Vacumatics.

I have about 30 bought at random for the size and color/cap patterns. 6 of them are flexible. Just one guy's data on Skyline flex nibs.....

Greg Minuskin regularly lists flex nib Skylines for sale on his web site, so they're certainly out there.

I have no affiliation with Mr. Minuskin other than being a satisfied customer.

  • 4 weeks later...

I managed to find a nice one on an otherwise wrecked Skyline. I found most of an adjustable nib on a similarly-wrecked desk pen, which should fit a treat on my ringtop Doric.
