That's great thanks for your help- can't resist those Omas celluloids!

Did you buy one? I noticed the Burkina was sold during the weekend along with the black lucens material and the Tibaldi Impero like David's pen.

Hey! I didn't even tell you about all the treasures residing in that box! :puddle: (I did leave most of them in there, but don't peek! :lticaptd: )

Alright buddy, you officially cost me a chunk of money with your darn helpful directions! ;)

I was supposed to do some Christmas shopping today, but not for me.

Apparently, you are in good company. And for what did that chunk of money go?

I really did have a hard time deciding which ones not to buy. I have two OMAS pens in the "Wild" celluloid, one of the original Galileos and a 360. I think it is as handsome as the arco's, in its own way. The Oldwin in that material was literally irresistible.

I was looking at 6 of the Classic pens starting Friday. 3 sold before I could make up my mind (black/gold lucens, burkina, Tibaldi impero) so that made my life easier. I wonder if someone here picked them up because of this thread.

The Wild celluloid you bought is a quite nice. I have been a bit short on my bids for a Galileo, paragon and 360 in that material. I still feel I want an Omas pen in that celluloid and it is just a matter of time.

I went with the material I have had the hardest time chasing - the arco. I have missed out on many of those pens. I want a larger pen so the Oldwin fit the bill. I'll share photos when my package arrives.

Ok ok, I may have been responsible for the Extra Lucens and Burkina celluloid's disappearing off the website :D . I'm really glad I nabbed the Extra Lucens (Art Camouffle) in particular- I've been wanting that Omas since 2013.

I see someone nabbed the arco bronze and arco verde...

...wait, there was an Impero celluloid...?! I can't believe I missed that one, I've been emailing various pen makers about that material for the last couple of years!

Congratulations. Those are great materials. I probably would have bought the lucens if it was still available. If you change your mind about it in the future, let me know.

David,

Great review of a very handsome design, beautiful material, and really oversize pen. Thanks for sharing it.

Had the Tibaldi Impero pen briefly, so, know how handsome it is. Shoulda kept it....

Enjoy the Oldwin!

Thanks, Mark!

The material really is special. I subsequently acquired a Stipula for Mercury pen in Impero. I wouldn't mind having a Tibaldi Impero. I lost an auction for one quite recently.

My real regret regarding this celluloid is that it doesn't seem to be available any longer to custom pen makers.

Congratulations, Mark!

Those pens are truly gorgeous! Use them in good health. I don't recall seeing the blue and gold one on Mora's web site. It looks like the same material Bryant had Visconti use for some LE Ragtimes (https://chatterleyluxuries.com/product/visconti-chatterley-titanic-ragtime-10th-anniversary-limited-edition-fountain-pen-7/)

My "wild" Oldwin Classic would have been delivered today, but we just got back to town. My mail has been held until tomorrow. I will be getting the Oldwin but also a sizable number of pens and loose nibs Michael Masuyama has just customized for me. I'll be pretty busy testing pens the rest of the week.

Here are some more, slightly better than the mobile pic above. Excellent job on aligning the grain of arco between cap, section AND barrel. :notworthy1:

Thanks.

Yep, that blue is the modern day incarnation of vintage turquoise celluloid. It is a limited edition, one of 8 made to commemorate 80 years of Oldwin.

That wild Oldwin looked quite nice but am eager to see some good pictures. With all the snow and subzero temperatures around here I, too, was afraid of untimely mail but was lucky and got it yesterday.

Masuyama-San has also rescued couple of my Oldwins given the limited nib widths.

My new Oldwin Classic "Nuit d'Orage" aka Omas "Wild" celluloid arrived today. Here are a couple photos:

I have my two OMAS pens in this material put away at the moment. I do want to compare the Oldwin with them.

The nib writes a medium-broad line with Waterman ink. I think it can be ground to a nice cursive italic, and that is likely what I will eventually have done.

Looking nice! I am yet to ink mine but happy that it has a slight spring.

I don't have any pens in this material and am curious if it's translucent.

The Nuit d'Orage/Wild material is entirely opaque.

Very pretty! Haven't owned a pen with the threads done that way, not sure if it would bother me or not.
