Yama-Bukiiro - Kyonooto

To be honest I don't know much about the company. Some time ago Algester posted topic about Tag Kyoto branch inks. The bottles and colors presented on their site looked nice so I've decided to try some of these inks. I've managed to buy two on Rakuten and I'll review them. The inks are made by or for Takeda Jimuki company and are available in two lines: Kyo No Oto and Kyo-Iro. Kyo no Oto inks are said to be traditional japanese colors that has been used since heian era (roughly 1000 years ago),and expressing a tinges that have been nurtured in long history and profound culture for long time.

Kyonooto inks are:

1. Aonibi
2. Imayouiro
3. Kokeiro
4. Nurebairo
5. Yamabukiiro

Kyo-iro inks are:

1. Cherry Blossom of Keage
2. Flaming Red of Fushimi
3. Moonlight of Higashiyama
4. Soft Snow of Ohara
5. Stone Road of Gion

Yamabukiiro comes in nice bottle

Yama-bukiiro has interesting color, maybe even unique. Not everyone will get crazy about it but in broader nibs it does rock. The ink behaves well - I haven't observed any problems.

Lovely ink... I find it very close to Robert Oster Green Olive.

 

Not identical but really close... I will post it in my doppelganger thread.

This is a lovely ink & of course made more appealing by an excellent review. I just checked to see if it wasn't @ Sakura Fountain Pen Gallery& indeed it is available there. I was writing this information down for my reference with a Franklin Christoph music nib filled with Standardgraph Maisegelb & decided it might be "close enough" for the moment.

That's why we said "similar"... and not IDENTICAL... :lol:

This ink is a lot darker than I expected. I thought a yellow ink would be too light to be legible, but Yamabukiiro seems dark enough to allay that concern. Thanks for the review- I will now seriously have to consider Yamabukiiro for my next ink purchase!

Hm. I recently bought a 90's-era Sheaffer NoNonsense calligraphy set from Ye Bay, and it came with a number of vintage Skrip ink cartridges. To my eye (and other disclaimers regarding monitor, paper, etc. apply), this looks a lot like Skrip King's Gold.

King's Gold has more punch. Mind you, there are some batch variations.. I've seen King's Gold range between a subdue yellow to a bright orange.
