Is Still Lamy T52 Blue Or Blue Black Waterproof And Water Resistant?

As topic stated, because when I searching this topic for the answers, I see some people claimed that Lamy has changed the formulation of this ink.

1. Does this ink is waterproof and water resistant? For examination I prefer waterproof.

2. What type of this ink is? Dye, pigment or iron-gall?

Thanks

While perhaps teh members frequenting the Lamy forum will know the answer, I think your best chances lay in the ink-forums, so I transported your question there.

AFAIK Lamy blue never has been document proof. Lamy Blue-Black used to be Iron-Gall based, but I don't know how the current formula is.

1. Both of these inks (Lamy Blue and the present-day Blue-Black; T52 = 50-ml bottles) are not waterproof. Both are somewhat water-resistant, Blue-Black more so than Blue. The last re-formulation was in the middle of 2012 when their iron-gall Blue-Black was replaced by a non-iron-gall Blue-Black. Lamy Blue-Black in cartridges was never an iron-gall ink. None of these two inks has been changed since then.
Here is a scan of the two before (top row) and after a 30-second bath under water (bottom row).

The same inks are also available in Lamy-proprietary cartridges (Lamy T-10). The blue ink is also available in Lamy T51 = 30-ml bottles.

2. Both of these inks are dye-based. The Lamy Blue never had any iron-gall component. The earlier, now discontinued Lamy Blue-Black – which is/was an iron-gall ink containing the completely water-soluble ferrous sulfate -- is also a dye-based ink.
