What's Your Favourite Looking Montblanc?

I have two sets, bp and fp. Both are the 146 silver duo models. one is pinstrip the other barley, and it is really hard to choose. the barley set I purchased new, the pinstrip I put together at rather bargin prices off ebay. I think the pinstripe looks a little more formal compared to the barley which has the resin body also engraved with the barley portion. I also like my 146 models , regular and traveler in bordeaux.

Regards

Jeff

No doubt the 344: it is a sort of essential, understated, but a great writer, and with ideal size.

The nib is something of a dream: smooooooth and flexible like a feather !!

Thanks Zaddick. Must include the original 139 then. I like both.

fpn_1468139465__montblanc_139_original.j

That is not a 139. That might be a 138 or another 136. The 139 has two silver rings around a gold band like the celluloid 149. I'll see if I can find a picture later today if no one has posted one by then.

I think the duo models look really sharp, and I like both the pinstripe and barley patterns. It's great there is a lot of variety available in the nicely sized 146 line.

This looks like quite the gem. It's impressive how Montblanc pens span the entire spectrum from very understated down to business designs right up to those magnificent works of art.

Zaddick, just curious. Those Torelli and Paul Rossi customized Montblanc pens, are they done in collaboration with Montblanc like the Custom LB5 and Sailor, or are they completely independent offerings?

They are unauthorized and.MB generally puts a stop to them through legal threats, or maybe strong hints is a kinder term. The 149 from Max was made with a small amount of vintage rod stock so I think there are only 2 or 3. as far as I k n ow, Paul no longer makes those types of MB reskins and Brad will not make a pen with and MB star.

Well I have seen a nice collection of pens in this forum and there are plenty more: the red mottled 12, the Agatha Christie, the 139 demonstrator by Maxpens. The list is very long and I have the luck of owning some of these beauties. But for me the all time greatest is the 149, not the silver rings with the telescopic piston, they only are inked occasionally and stay at home. They are too precious and becoming vulnerable, spare parts are scarce and servicing them is no DIY job. On the other hand, my precious resin 149ers, even the first one bought more than 40 years ago, are all in regular rotation, they are trusty daily workhorses, servicing is a piece of cake with the right tools, nib sizes ranging from EEF to OBBB ( 10 ), recently choice of 3 trims. What more could one wish.

I'm really drawn to the Solitaires in silver pinstripe pattern. either the Doué or the complete one.

I agree, the 149 is unsurpassed. As plain as it may look to some, it's beauty and attraction is in the realm of the intangibles. A fat 149 in your hand just feels right!

Another one I'm drawn to in addition to the Czar Nikolai, that I don't currently have, would be the Einstein. Love that warped space time continuum cap.

That Blue Hour is stunning indeed. I'm drooling! Would look cool with ink sloshing around in it.

I wouldn't mind a platinum version of the Czar Nikolai at all.

I'm with you on the 146 Solitaire. They are brilliant, and mine has a permanent place in my 3 pen pouch and it goes with me everywhere ever since I got it. Lately the 149 accompanies it. Luckily my leather 3 pen pouch can stretch.
