i have just bought a pilot 912 with spencerian customization (mottishaw).

thanks in advance.

I've got one of those too, and through trial and error Clairefontaine seems best to me. While tomoe river is smooth it does not permit as fine line variation as Clairefontaine. As far as ink, I've found that montblanc permanent blue works really well in both resisting railroading as well as keeping a nice tight hairline.

Also, if you are following Spencer's recommendations on how to hold the pen (with your hand supported by your fourth and fifth fingernails) then you are going to find that really thick notebooks and spiral bound notebooks interfere with your writing or at least I notice this. Thats why I prefer using a staple bound 48 sheet/96 page Clairefontaine notebook. Hope this helps!

You'll want a smooth surface, which you'll find on Clairefontaine notebooks, but also Maruman and Baron Fig.

The Mont Blanc ink, sadly, dries too slowly for a leftie. The colors are penetrating, but it smears terribly.
