Am I the only one underwhelmed with this? I already have Safaris and Al Stars with a gold nib. Granted the colors are pretty, but I was really hoping for a new design.

You have SafariS and and Al StarS with gold nibs? Boy, you're loaded! Where did you find all these lamy gold nibs? They are not easy to get. If you have some spare ones, contact me!

Anyway, I am not convinced that they are just Al-stars with gold nibs. It must be something else.

What's special about Lamy gold nibs?

And are they this rare?

Lamy's gold nibs are really lovely. They are wetter, smoother, and a little springy compared to their steel nibs. They are rare because they are not sold separately anymore, at least in the U.S., and there aren't many Lamy models sold in the U.S. with these particular nibs. Special edition Studios have these gold nibs, can't think of any other examples.

Other higher end Lamy models also come equipped with a gold nib, but in general what cameeron331 writes is correct.

Awesome! I love the gold, the rhutenium and the palladium ones! I hope the price doesn't increase a lot.

You think they'd offer a gold on one of the Safaris. I guess not.

€50 I gather and a gold nib is an option......

A gold nib is an option for a Safari, too. Bit expensive, about 4 times the cost of the pen itself, but quite possible.
