Bay. State. Blue.

That's the first thing I thought when someone else posted the article link! Just seeing that pile of pigment powder....

Steve, we miss you!

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

Don't know where to start?  Look at the Inky Topics O'day.  Then, see inks sorted by color: Blue Purple Brown Red Green Dark Green Orange Black Pinks Yellows Blue-Blacks Grey/Gray UVInks Turquoise/Teal MURKY

Dr. Ph. Martin or Kevin of Blackstone could make a supercharged pigment blue with this one...

First Vantablack, and now YInMn blue - there hasn't been this amount of excitement in the world of colour since Dayglo in the 1940s! Finding new colours is such a strange idea.

I LOVE this blue! Is there a way for anyone to get their hands on it? I "need" this :-)!

I have BSB. It's my favorite "true blue" ink, which I use in a cheap Dollar pen so that staining the pen isn't an issue. Maybe that's why I like the color in this thread so much--it reminds me of Bay State Blue :-).

Hi there - after reading further, the company that is licensing it says it is so expensive to make that they are estimating $1K per kg! Here's the company that bought the rights:

Saffron, OTOH, varies from $13,000 to $35,000 per kg.

However, that's $1 / gram. You'd only have one or two grams of the pigment in a standard bottle of ink, so it wouldn't be a significant part of the costs of the ink.
