Fp Starting Difficulties After Storing Nib Up

My edc pens are ones that don't dry out. At home, there's a water container near the pen cups. A drop of water from fingertip into the nib slit solves any occasional troubles.

Horses for causes!

Once we know, why and what dries out, we can think of a solution.

But, let's look at some of the suggestions.

  1. Nib Up

Much of the feed action is supported by gravity. In the nib-up position the ink supply to the nib stops. Change in temperature and atmospheric pressure will eventually suck the ink out of the feed into the reservoir and with air at both ends, it will solidly dry out. At least with not much pigment left in the capillaries. Therefore, once brought into the nib-down position it is for the fountain pen like a dry start, almost like a virgin. Whatever tricks help to accelerate this is ok.

Have to shoot off... you find some info on my blog... click on the link below the flower... more later

with kindness...
