Gold Vs Rhodium Trim- Your Preference?

RMH

Recommended Posts

I'm with the "it depends on the pen" crowd.

The entire pen has to work together in harmony. How do the colors go and look together.

Example, I would not put gold on a WHITE pen; silver maybe black, but generally not gold.

But gold on a white pen is absolutely gorgeous!! This is on my list, just because the gold and white work so beautifully together..

With a Rhodium trim it's too cold overall..

Yes Olya, when I thought of a white pen with gold furniture Sailor pens immediately came into my mind. White resin with yellow gold (or even rose gold) can make a stunning combination. Anyone writing with either the Pro Gear or the Sapporo, dressed that way, would certainly attract some attention in a work environment.

I've not yet seen a Sapporo Mini in a white/rhodium garb. Lovely & would attract much less attention.

Rhodium or ruthenium for most pens. I went for the gold nib on my Aka-Tamenuri Nakaya Decapod Twist Cigar, but would get rhodium or ruthenium on a Kuro-Tamenuri Nakaya. I usually wear silver jewelry instead of gold and I read somewhere that if you prefer silver over gold in jewelry you will usually prefer rhodium over gold in pens. If you prefer rhodium, do you prefer white gold, platinum or silver jewelry to gold?

Generally speaking, silver (as a color (silver, chrome, white gold, platinum, ruthenium, rhodium, and so on) rather than yellow (gold).

Generally, generally.

I prefer Rhodium, Silver or White Gold.

Have never been a fan of yellow gold. I find it rather garish and it always reminds me of Mr.T!
