Just read a post of a Sailor in rhodium- a couple members stated how they prefer rhodium. To me rhodium looks like chrome plating and I prefer the warmth of gold. I am interested in other's perspective please...

It depends on the rest of the pen. Too much gold bling is too much or maybe it clashes, so sometimes it needs chromium trim instead of gold to bring that bling level down and make it more harmonious looking.

The chomium instead of gold can in some instances draw your attention to another part of the pen which happens to be the main focus on the pen, whereas if it were gold it would too distracting and too busy.

Like Bluey said, it depends on the rest of the pen. Black pens I prefer gold. Blue I prefer rhodium. Red, green, orange, I may prefer gold.

Gold. Only gold. I've never really loved silver (silver-toned) in any situation. It certainly helps regulate my collection!!!

I generally prefer rhodium or silver accents, though, as most others mentioned, it depends on the pen. And, on the right pen, a ruthenium (black) plating can look magnificent.

I understand how rhodium or silver accents can look like cheap chrome, but if you look at nice rhodium or silver accents next to chrome, there's quite a difference.

I actually prefer ruthenium and platinum plating over rhodium because it's a bit too shiny for me. I will tolerate gold, if I must.

Depends on the pen.

On the two Sailor Profit sized Mozaiques I own, the rhodium plated nib & furniture tones down the overall effect of the somewhat busy acrylic:

Mozaique:

Some may think it strange but I actually prefer a yellow gold nib on my black/chrome Kaweco Dia2. Kaweco Dia2 with 14K BB

For most of my nibs, I like the warm glow of yellow gold.

I'm a gold boy, I thought, but I have a couple of Lamys with steel or platinum and am contemplating a pen that mostly looks silver. I looked over a blue Man 100 Patrician where I thought rhodium trims looked good (I passed on it) so it depends, is my brilliant conclusion.

Gold is good on the right pen. But I am not to particular most of the time.

There are very few pens I own with rhodium trim that I prefer the look to the gold version... My blue carbonesque vanishing point is the notable exception where gold would just not look right. It was the sole flaw my Carene had - it was CT vs GT and eventually I got a GT version as well.

While there are exceptions, like some dark greens, where gold is preffered, I over all much prefer silver. Gold so often seems to look over the top and gaudy, especially on less expensive pens.

For me, it's pretty much rhodium or other silver furniture ftw.

I think some colours look good with either chrome or gold (e.g. blue or black) but as a general preference my choice is gold due to it's warmth. :)

When the body is black, I prefer Rhodium/Silver on modern pens and gold on vintage.

In anything other than black it is dependent on the color, especially the shade. For example a deep navy blue would go well with gold especially rose gold, but a slightly lighter blue to me seems to work better with Rhodium.

But if the trim/clip is Rhodium, I prefer that the nib either by Rhodium or two-toned.

It depends, but pretty far this:

Like Bluey said, it depends on the rest of the pen. Black pens I prefer gold. Blue I prefer rhodium. Red, green, orange, I may prefer gold.

I generally prefer gold with most pen colors. However, if the body is silvery colored, then I prefer rhodium or some other silvery color.
