A clear Eco with a 1.1mm stub filled with Akkerman #10 Iron Gall. My first TWSBI purchased from Anderson Pens http://www.andersonpens.com at the 2017 Baltimore Pen Show.

So far I really enjoy using it. I did make a couple of adjustments to the nib; first I sharpened it slightly on a hard black Arkansas stone to get more line variation. Thought it wrote a bit dry so flossed between the tines with a .002" brass sheet. Seems to have helped.

Like it so much I'm thinking about getting a 580!

I have heard that you should stay away from iron gall inks for use in fountain pens, so I don't use them...

I've heard that too, but usually concerning older iron gall ink formulas.

The Akkerman and R&K iron galls have worked perfectly in my pens. Other than being highly water resistant, iron gall inks seen to work better on some envelopes that aren't very fountain pen friendly with regular inks.

I do thoroughly flush the pens before I refill them to make sure I get out any remaining ink to help prevent possible clogging issues. I do this with regular permanent or bullet proof inks too.

If anything should go wrong, it's only a $30 pen.

If TWSBI would combine the lightness of the Eco with the 580's section, it would be a perfect pen for me.

I enjoy both pens but the Eco just edges out the 580 because of its' lighter weight.

Think I found out why I like the Eco better than the 580.

I was using one of my Rotring Artpens after not writing with one for quite a while and it felt very familiar in my hand. I compared it with the Eco and lo and behold the Eco felt the same. I measured their sections, and they are almost identical in shape and dimensions!

TWSBI Eco, M cursive italic from fpnibs.com, Sailor Yama-dori ink

How quick was the delivery, any problems, I've just discovered them whilst reading a short review on Nib & Muck. I have to say I really fancy giving one a go, the prices seem good considering all the options they have on offer. I've never used FP Nibs before, hence the reason for asking?

FP nibs do an exceptional job of customising nibs, for a very reasonable price. I've bought several nibs from them over the past 18 months (cursive italic, fine stub, architect grind, waverley nib) - all worked well, without exception. Pablo is an exceptional craftsman, and it shows in the work he produces. Delivery to Australia was 2-3 weeks, but that's about average for deliveries from Europe / UK, and the packaging was adequate without being over the top.

Superb, thank you so much for answering my question, I shall be placing orders very soon. Still can't believe the quoted prices & options available, to say I'm impressed would be an understatement - All I have to do is decide what I want next, Thank you !!

:-)

Finally purchased the Eco in black with a 1.1 nib to go with my order of Lamy Petrol ink bottles and cartridges. To be honest, I only added it because I had to pay shipping for the ink and figured I should spend more money since the shipping was already priced in. Having already purchased the Clear Eco and White Eco a while ago ... figured why not complete the set. The lime green or yellow model doesn't appeal to me.

TWSBI ECO Black with a Fine. Filled with Iroshizuku Take-sumi. Currently waiting for the arrival of one clear ECO with a right foot oblique nib and a 580 broad nib with an architect grind from FPNibs. Pre-ordered the 580AL Turquoise as well. Excited for that!
