Diamond 580 Rose Gold II with a 1.1 stub nib. Just received it. The TWSBI stubs are amazingly good out of the box, with the corners rounded off so that they feel more like a broad, but have the nice line variation of a stub. It probably needs a dark reddish or brown-tone ink, but I have Ancient Copper and Oxblood already in other pens. So it got some very old PR Arabian Rose, which is quite satisfactory. I'll have to shop for some new Diamine ink for it. A really nice writer, are my Eco and 580AL.

How does the 580 fit into the 30ml Diamine bottles?

Unscrew section, get nib housing tube out, screw it back into the barrel and ink the pen...unscrew nib unit, put it back into section and put the pen back together again

That's a lot of work! Best to just buy the large Diamine bottles from now on.

Just rec'd the orange Eco [broad] that I ordered from Vanness. I wanted it specifically to dedicate to Baystate Blue. And not only does the ink look great against the orange, but it writes super smooth.

But it's just too much line. It won't work on most of my papers. And while I intended to use a separate Clairefontaine notebook for it, I decided I didn't want to add a 4th currently-running notebook. So I put BSB into my fine Preppy eyedropper, and it's perfection.

The Eco I flushed and replaced with Noodler's Eel Black. It flows like I went down a nib size, to medium, and it feeds back all pencil-y like my Parker 51 Special. I love it. Plus, it works on everything I have tested so far - even the Moleskine paper doesn't bleed and barely ghosts.

I sometimes wonder what would have happened if I had bought an Eco instead of a Safari some 2 or 3 dozen pens ago. Perhaps I would not have spent so much time and money searching for the right pen/brand.

But then again, back then I might not have been able to appreciate the beauty and elegance of this $30 pen.

On my Eco (B), I find I have to keep the piston lowered so that no empty space/air shows in the ink storage. Yesterday, for instance, it was writing super dry and faint. I lowered the piston, and it has been all well again since.

Has that been your experience, TWSBI piston-filler owners?

Bought a new larger nib for my TWSBI 580AL, and it turned up from Pure Pens today. Think “I can wait weeks until all the ink has been used in writing!” Erm, no. Just emptied all the ink back into bottle (Diamine Scribble Purple), and washed the pen's innards, ready for nib swap. I'm going from a fine nib to a new medium nib. May need to wait till tomorrow for it to dry properly inside, but it's in progress. Will definitely be trying it as soon as it's in.

Now installed and working great. I'm quite surprised how much I'm now liking medium nibs at times.

The clear ECO with 1.1 stub and Montblanc Elixir Calligraphy Yellow Gold ink. The TWSBI writes so elegantly, and love the way the ink looks with this pen.

I’m using a pastel pink Eco with a fine nib, inked with Waterman Inspired Blue. I have a lot of fancier, more expensive pens, but I always come back to my trusty Eco.

A transparent purple Eco with a broad nib and KWZ El Dorado. I've put the feed from a 1.1 stub in here but the nib's so juicy it still has a little trouble keeping up over long stretches of writing. Hugely fun though.

I got a brand new EF nib unit for my Vac Mini today. It was originally my first broad nib, but it didn’t suit me. It’s inked with Callifolio Olivastre.

I feel exactly the same.. I have bought pens from $600 and down, and the TWSBI's take the cake SO FAR .. Very Nice Pens.. they write as well or better than my higher dollar pens that are sleeping in my office desk drawer.. :)

I used a TWSBI Mini in Mint Blue with 1.1mm stub nib filled with Diamine 150th Anniversary Terracotta. I plan to use it with my Travelers Notebook calendar insert for October, thus the Autumn toned ink.

Just wrote 3 pages of book review for my academic blog. To type up and post online another day! I tend to find writing works much more creatively for me if writing by hand than typing. TWSBI Diamond 580AL Rose medium with Diamine Red Dragon ink. Usually I’d write a review with my ultra smooth Visconti, but I fancied using the red TWSBI combo tonight.

I tried another TWSBI, a 580AL (EF) recently and am using it at work.

I had retired a 530 some years ago but on a whim decided to buy the 580AL and so far I am well impressed with it.

Currently using Diamine Saddle Brown in it.

I had forgotten what good value and good writing can be obtained from this brand.

There were no cracks or breaaks on the 530 so far as I am aware and I used it at work for 2-3 years.

Probably now looking to acquire a Vac Mini and Precision later this year in F or EF again.

I am using one of my Ecos. a white one with a Medium nib.

I had given up on the pen because it kept blobbing. I would be writing away and after 10 lines or so I would see a blob of ink run down the outside of the feed very quickly and rolled onto the page.

I tried drying the feed and took advice, nothing helped.

I started using a thicker ink and problem was solved.
