OK, I have to confess that like Bryant, I also bought 2 pens: not only the red Gothic, but also the Swords. :)

In addition, FPH accidentally sent me the Celtic as well, which of course I returned to them. Bizzare as this may be, it allowed me to see three pens from this series at once and compare!

The red Gothic is certainly not the most low-key of the pens, but I don't agree with Bryant that it is "tacky." I think it is a fun pen, that does not take its "silver overlay" status too seriously. I confirm that there is a seam-like transition in the overlay pattern on the Gothic, whereas there isn't one in either the Swords or the Celtic. However, I do not mind this, because to me the Gothic overlay is just overall prettier than any of the others, seam or not. These are of course, all differences of opinion. I mean, look at my avitar and it is easy to see why I would like the look of the Gothic.

The Celtic was not for me, because I found the green resin to be a little dull in color -- plus, I am not Irish! However, the Celtic is probably the best value in terms of weight in silver: Of the 3 pens I've seen, the overlay is the most dense in the Celtic, with the least resin being visible underneath. In fact, the Celtic looks mostly silver, with little bits of green peeking out.

The Swords is the most tasteful and low-key of the Architectus pens I've seen. The plum resin is very dark, and looks more like a gray-brown with mauve undertones. It is also the most "expensive" looking, because the color suggests seriousness. It is certainly a much more sombre and masculine pen than the others. I like the Swords very much, but the spotlight has definitely been stolen by the excitement of the strawberry-like Gothic.

Hope everyone enjoys all their pens and does not blame me for their bankruptcy. :)

I'm just envying you for getting in early enough to bag a "Swords"! I'm with you on the Celtic. Except for the ends, it's a silver pen with interspersed green bits showing and deliciously, comfortably heavy. I adore mine and it's getting a lot of use.

If I buy more pens, it forces me to cut back on food. So this is a good thing, right? :roller1:

Ok, ok after writing with the gothic for a bit now I must retract my previous statement. I am now a fan. I think I was trying to have some buyer remorse, that didn’t work out so well for me... And even after buying three of them I am still a little regretful that one of them was not the swords. I suppose my thinking was that I have more than enough dark colored overlays... I was hoping to hear from someone that it looked horrible. Oh well, you can’t own them all...

One question... Do all Krones have this kind of filler? I had a Nailhead for bit (before the great pen sale of 2006) and it had the same kind. Anyone know?

PS I do blame you... but in a good way! You should have gotten yours for free, look at all the business you sent their way!Cheers!

I know this is an old thread but I just purchased the Krone Architectus Provencial Ballpointand I own over a 100 Krone's, all the Sterling ones are marked Sterling and/or 925. This one has no markings anywhere on the silver. It would be very rare for them not to acknowledge the Sterling. This leads to believe the metal is silver-plated and the color of the tarnish seems to support this.

Does anyone have an example of a pen in the Architectus series that is marked Sterling or 925?
