This one I have always hesitated to buy because it always looks so washed out. You may change my mind.

Let me know how it works out for you!

This ink has ended up in Dr. J's scented inks too. I like the ink best without the scent.

My sample has not scent, so I must have gotten one of the old ones. I will have to look into this further. I was planning to buy a bottle, but if it is scented, I won't.

Generally, I like De Atramentis' red inks. I have several. The wine inks are some of the most impressive.

I haven't tried any of the wine inks yet. I guess I will have to try some of those next.

This is an ink that I revised my opinion about. When I first tried it, I was looking for a BSB comparison. No doubt, it's not BSB. On second use, I was really impressed with the long term in a HUGE fill. I ended up buying this one instead of Ajisai.

This is nice and has great flow. There are other inks in this shade that I prefer more.

I'm sorry, I should have been more clear. The ink labeled Magenta is NOT scented. I think the ink that was scented Birthday Cake was the same color as Magenta. So, buy the one that is unscented which only has the name of the color in the ink name.

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

I've pulled a few back and forth out of the shadows, mostly wondering "Why did I drop this ink from rotation?" and then getting reminded exactly why.

J Herbin Perle Noire was the first. I never got the characteristics everyone else seems to get from this ink. Mine was washed out grayish black, dry, smeared quickly on the page, and that bottle. Whoever designed the 30ml Herbin bottles should be forced to use them for the rest of their lives. It's the only ink I've ever dumped- relegated purely to mixes.

Next, since work required some things be in black, was Noodler's Black Eel. More black and wet, yes, but took forever to dry even in a dry pen, and simply didn't impress me much. Parker Quink ended up being my go-to black.

Next, the three 1670s. Rouge Hematite simply didn't impress me, stuck with Skrip Red. Bleu Ocean was goldless and just a weak blue, stuck with Skrip Blue and BSB. Stormy Grey made me actively sad- the color reminds me of hard times. Only ink I've ever traded.

I keep an active and varied rotation and if something goes in the shadows, there's always a reason why. I should keep track if something gets dropped out, as memory is treacherous.

Sadly, yes. I really like both the DeAtramentis colors, but the smell really bothers me. Of course, I think I am a bit hypersensitive because my allergies in general are up. But I was sad to have had to dump them.

I have a few more that I will be loading up tomorrow.

I too was disappointed with D'A Lavender. I found the ink really wet, and the scent so light as to not be worth the bother (although it was a sample, rather than a full bottle).

Most of their scented inks that I've tried have been disappointing. I liked the color of Patchouli, but the scent was awful (I wish they had an unscented version because the color is really interesting -- sort of a brownish mauve/red violet). Lavender didn't smell like much of anything (certainly not what I expected). Black Roses (at least in a sample vial) also didn't have much scent to it.

The only one where the scent really comes through is Red Roses and is *exactly* what vintage roses smell like (well, except the foetidas... ;)). Plus it's a gorgeous dark rose color (more red violet in finer nibs).

Some of the greens look interesting. But, like Patchouli, don't seem to be in unscented versions. And I absolutely can't stand the smell of Lily of the Valley, so that ink is right out.

If you can handle any scent at all in an ink, try out De A's Ylang Ylang or Blackberry. Both are -- at least to my nose -- excellent replicas! Colors and flows etc are fine, too.

I personally love reds and have a few that I believe are beautiful. But for some reason, if I use these colors for more than a few lines I start to feel my stomach turn

So they're never in my rotation. Every now and then I ink a pen and as mentioned earlier, I get reminded exactly why am not using them.
