This thread makes me think I should revisit some inks. But I have a bunch of samples I haven't tried, and have too many pens in rotation again as it is....

I did get *one* pen flushed out today. But too many of the others have *just* enough ink in them that I don't want to just dump the ink out. :wallbash:

It has been fun to revisit my samples. Some of them I wonder why I haven't bought a full bottle, but many of the others I am thankful that I didn't!

DeAtramentis Lavender: Again, I love this ink! But it causes my eyes to water and nose to run. Gotta flush it!

J. Herbin's Bleu Ocean 1670 Anniversary Ink

 

First Review: Lovely color with great flow. Great sparkles in ink spot and in thick swabbing, but not in writing, even with stub nib. I am so disappointed. But shading is nice and color is nice, but not for the price. Overall rating: 7 out of 10

 

Second Review: Below. I won't buy a bottle. Such a disappointment. Guess I am not a glitter girl!

J. Herbin's Stormy Gray 1670 Anniversary Ink:

 

First Review: A nice dark gray color, with some shading. It flows and behaves well. I see the sparkles in the ink spot, but not much in my writing. I am not terribly impressed especially for the price of the ink. Overall rating: 6 out of 10

 

Second Review: Again, no sparkles, although I do like the dark gray - not quite black. It seems to have a warm cast to it. But it is supposed to sparkle in my writing. Even with a very wet stub nib, no sparkles! Disappointed. Revised Ratiing: 4 out of 10

Sadly, yes. I really like both the DeAtramentis colors, but the smell really bothers me. Of course, I think I am a bit hypersensitive because my allergies in general are up. But I was sad to have had to dump them.

 

I have a few more that I will be loading up tomorrow.

Others have done wonderful reviews on this ink. This isn't the best photo but will give you an idea of the color. This is an ink for a stub or italic nib. It is way too light in a fine nib. It isn't an ink that I will purchase a bottle of.

This is a beautiful ink! I am so happy that I revisited my sample. I will definitely be buying a bottle of this! Just look at that sheen!

DeAtramentis Magenta Violet

 

This is a stunning ink. I will definitely be getting a bottle of this. After I took this photo, I put this into my Jinhao with a Goulet stub nib. This ink has great shading. The chromatography shows the striking pink undertone.

This is an ink that I revised my opinion about. When I first tried it, I was looking for a BSB comparison. No doubt, it's not BSB. On second use, I was really impressed with the long term in a HUGE fill. I ended up buying this one instead of Ajisai.
