William Hicks Nib On Ebay

I noticed a somewhat decrepit ringtop on eBay the other day. It was listed as a Cartier with a really flexy nib, but the really interesting thing was left out of the listing. The picture of the nib was too blurry to make out the name, but another pictured showed, very clearly, "William Hicks New York."

Nobody else seems to have noticed - even the seller. I got totally lucky.

Anyone have one of these nibs? Mr. Hicks did his thing for the likes of Cartier and Tiffany. What's the plutocrat writing experience like?

Update: the pen arrived, and it's a bit of a wreck - there's a piece of the section missing - but the nib is ASTONISHING! Hugely flexible - like a paintbrush.

The plutocrat writing experience was pretty nice.

I look forward to seeing pictures.

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

Yes, congratulations on a nice find. Hoping you are as delighted as you seem to be.

Will be looking forward to seeing some writing samples when you have things sorted out.

Enjoy!

We'd be a little more delighted if the pen was actually functional, but the section is broken and wobbly. I've sent it to Mr. Zorn so I hope he can sort it out. The nib is so good it's worth taking some trouble, especially given the prices for similar pens.
