Fabriano Ecoqua A5 Spiral Bound - Graph 5Mm

Recommended Posts

Hi,

This is a review of the Fabriano EcoQua A5 Spiral Bound - graph 5mm notebook.

See more at http://fabriano.com/en/267/ecoqua

Pros:

It has nice paper (85 gsm). The paper is quite smooth, but not as smooth as Clairefontaine.

There is minor show-through and no bleed-through.

Cons:

(Personally, I cannot think of any.)

Things to consider:

The paper is off-white.

The notebooks are available in different binding, sizes, formats, and cover colours.

The dry time is from about 20 to 25 seconds.

The covers might not be very durable to some people, but I have no problems with it.

I bought it from an art store for about $5.00 USD. Amazon has it, but with a higher price.

Nice review sofia819. I picked up some of their staple bound notebooks 8''X6" (actually 8 1/4" X 5 3/4") recently from a Dick Blick store. The paper is excellent and I haven't experienced any bleeding or feathering. Even with Noodlers Bernanke Blue which is the only ink I have found that bleeds through Tomoe River with wet nibs. As for drying time it is much quicker than Rhodia. This is a much overlooked product that performs very well.

Where is the difference between having our arms in possession and under our direction, and having them under the management of Congress? If our defense be the real object of having those arms, in whose hands can they be trusted with more propriety, or equal safety to us, as in our own hands?" Patrick Henry

I think I have at least one of every size and binding of Fabriano EcoQua notebooks. I like and use them all. With a choice of blank, ruled, dot, or grid in several sizes, it's easy to find jobs for them.

I love the smell of fountain pen ink in the morning.

Am I the only one who ran into a bad batch of them??.... I guess so. ;)

I used to buy them in bulk (10-15 notebooks) .. mainly cause it was used by my whole family (1 adult - 3 kids).. and it was excellent value for fountain pen friendly paper. The A4 - where approx 6$ CAN and the A5 where like $3 CAN... cheap as chips.

Then, I ran into a bad batch... feather like crazy with everything but pencil.. :P ... They seem to have fixed the problem, but I am still careful when purchasing. Now, I buy them in small number.

Art stores seems to carry them at good price. The only time I found them in a pen store, they were 3 times the price.

No no, it was exactly the same Dot Pad A5 notebooks. One year they were fantastic.. the next year (the next batch of 10 I bought) were horrible. After.. they went back to being good again. I am sure it was a batch quality.
