Visconti Rembrant Barrel Cracked

Nellybeans

Recommended Posts

I own a beatiful Visconti Rembrant red pearl finish fountain pen. Recently I noticed the barrel was not closing on the pen properly after refilling. The barrel is not a screw on type, it's more like push on type. I took a loope and noticed a small crack right at the edge. Due to the crack, the barrel diameter expands as I push the barrel onto the metal part of the pen. It is very lose and I can't write with it.

How do I get it fixed? Or can I get a replacement barrel from Visconti? Is that possible? I Google searched but got nowhere. Nothing on eBay either in terms of replacement parts.

It's a great pen. It was my very first one when I got into my fountain pen addiction :)

Any advice will be very much appreciated.

I don't have a bad handwriting. I have my own font...

Best is try to contact Visconti and see if they can exchange the cap for another one.

A friction fit on a modern pen sounds unusual. I looked at Goulet Pens' review of the Rembrandt

and see that, at least now, this is a screw-type reinforced with metal. This is what I expect on a newer acrylic pen. Could it be that you've been pulling the acrylic barrel off the metal lining? Is the screw-in metal liner still attached to the section? If you can unscrew, I'd consider gluing the barrel to the liner and unscrewing when filling.

Hope this makes sense; a picture could sure help.
