Ultimate Cheap Piston Filler?

Hi!

I'm still exploring the ins and outs of FP universe, really don't like to have even 2 pens of the same kind, so how this happened?:

My indeed rainbow collection of Click Neo Tulips.

Any other fans of these pens here?

I didn't see the review on FPN, although here is wonderful review by Vaibhav Mehandiratta https://mehandiratta.wordpress.com/2015/02/17/pen-review-click-majestic-crystal-click-tulip-piston-filler-fountain-pen/

I can agree with everything, except he says his pen didn't post...all of mine do post securely, some require little pressure.

First I bought the green one off eBay for £12(purely because it looked like discontinued Pelikan M200 dark green demo 😢) Eventually it became one of my favourite pens (to actually use) along with my boring black M200, when it comes to practicality of dimensions, smoothness of writing, no problems, no hassle with filling, take it anywhere without second thoughts.

I soon discovered they have them at ASA for less than £5.

I ordered 2 more and later 4 more as a result of panic when they were temporarily out of stock 😂 In my defence, I plan to start giving them away to people.

Cons:

"click" branding on the barrel doesn't look so great

Nib might need little tuning and micro mesh might come handy

Pros:

Not direct copy, but pretty similar to M200/M600, steel nib is springy with nice line variation unheard of at this price range

What do you think, is it an ultimate cheap piston filler?

I have a few Indus pens from Fountain Pen Revolution, which I believe are made under commission by the same manufacturer. They're a bit more expensive, but the nibs are consistently really good. They're a great little pen, especially for the price point!

Gofixmix,

Good to see them colourful ones, and even better, another report on them, thank you!

It's difficult to define what makes an ultimate cheap piston filler; there are indeed much cheaper ones such as the Pakistani Dollar 717 or some of those by Serwex, whose quality might probably be a little lower than the Neo Tulip. Of course there are costlier ones with a bit more quality; where we draw the line is a very subjective matter.

Nevertheless I do plan to acquire some, and from some eBay dealers they work out even cheaper if one purchase them in ten-unit retailers packs...

No, I am not going to list my pens here.

The Chinese juggernaut, Jinhao. Yes, it is a converter, yes it is a piston filler converter (not a squeeze bulb). Hard to beat the price.

 It's for Yew!bastardchildlil.jpg

  • 2 years later...

I have the tulip, have to say it's an amazing everyday writer.

Ordered the camlin 47 a few days back, it has really promising reviews. Excited about that, but I heard it has nib drying issues. Nothing of that sort with the tulip though.
