Hi Folks,

I just came across this group buy. That sure is a nice looking pen. Before I place an order, one question: Which nib would you recommend- Schmidt or JoWo?

The price difference does not bother me. I would just want to pick the most reliable, smoothest writer. I usually go for fine nibs. Could go for a stub this time, in which case it would have to be JoWo. But it would likely be a fine. Thanks.

I've had very positive experiences with JoWo nibs - so I'd tend to recommend them. But I don't think you'll go too far wrong either way. I've ordered mine with an Ambitious nib / eyedropper fill only - but I've got a fair few 'spare' JoWo nibs from Goulet Pens, so I have a backup plan if the installed nib doesn't float my boat...

I have ordered jowo fine and my pen is in the mail. Tracking shows that I will receive it today. Excited to try this one. As I have ebonite Nauka in Schmidt fine so will share comparison of jowo F and Schmidt F soon

Well, one vote for JoWo and one for Schmidt. That makes it easy! :P

Let me think if I want to order the pen. Maybe. And perhaps I might even go for a stub as a change from the typical. Not sure yet.

Thanks, folks!

Now I have both ebonite Nauka with Schmidt F and trans Nauka with JoWo F. Both are inked with same ink and as Vaibhav Mehandiratta suggested, Schmidt is more wet. But Both pens write same width and are equally smooth. So you should choose based on your liking of wetness.

OK, well I tried to resist, but that did not last too long. I just placed an order for the pen. :) I ordered and paid via the Asa pens web site. Then I filled out the Google doc for the group buy. This will be my first group buy of anything, pens or otherwise. I think that it was the peer pressure that made me do it. :P

Went for the 1.1 nib as something different than what I use normally, which are fines. Also different will be clipless. With the 3-in-1 filling. Should be an interesting pen.

I may try converting it to an eyedropper, again for something different. How, exactly, do you do that? Just pull out the converter, silicone grease the threads, and fill up the barrel with ink? Also, how likely is it to burp out a bunch of ink? And is the best strategy for preventing that to not let it get below half full?

I apply silicone grease on threads of the nib unit and also to the section where keys barrel... ve seen the ink flow increased substantially as air inside goes above 3/4 level... Nd it is actually a sign for refill..

Can anybody please explain What is the advantage of Group Buy over normal order through ASA website? Is it Discounted?

What are the procedures of group buy?

In group buy.. There is a particular product available at certain discount like let's say 25% over the regular price..

Sometimes it is also used for new launch before the product goes to regular pricing. In this particular case the product will be limited quantity available till the time the material sticks last.. Thus the product will be unique and also discounted price will end soon and it will go back to regular prices...

Buying through here ensures you regular discount... And also offer was exclusively available only on FPN...

Thanks. I'll give the threads a little grease and see how my first eyedropper experience goes. Won't let the ink level get below around half or so. No one likes a big blob of ink dropping into their paper.

In case anyone cares, I placed my order on Friday, Jul 1. And have since received an email saying that the pen will ship within 4 weeks. AOK by me.

Thanks for putting this group buy together.
