Montblanc Andy Warhol Le 1928

Last week I finally got my Andy Warhol LE with its B nib. Having had the SE rollerball for a few months, I was slightly worried the large cap would scratch the plastic of the barrel on the LE too. The good news is the LE has metal at this point and thus far this doesn't look like a problem.

Positives: beautiful pen - the guilloche flowers look amazing - much better than the soup cans; the nib looks great; it writes beautifully.

Negatives: still not surer about the oversized cap; No MOP or "unique" (e.g. Da Vinci) star; Uninspiring grey barrel below the metal flowers.

All in all, a beautiful Great Characters pen. IMHO, not as nice as the JFK LE or the Da Vinci but ahead of the Hitchcock, Lennon and Gandhi.

I saw one but did't like that the cap was longer and the grip was metal, as so many are now. Otherwise it looked nice. :)

Congratulations! :) I was eyeing it two weeks ago myself because I really liked the cap (particularly the flowers) and the nib. Its a wonderful pen, hope you enjoy it.

That's a cool looking pen!

More i peruse these mont blanc forums, the more I am learning. Came across this post and just had to comment on how attractive/unique the styling is.

I love it!

Just out of curiosity, do people find mont blanc pays more attention to these special additions with regards to the design and the usage suffers? as in, the 'quality' of the functionality of the pen is compromised by their focus on design?

I feel Montblanc pays a lot of attention to ALL of their designs. Look at the latest batch of regular pens like the Bonheur, Rough et Noir, and the M. They really are well thought through, although some might consider them not the best writing implements. In these more limited or special editions, the design team has more latitude to explore. It's just whether they hit the right notes or not. An example is while the Andy Warhol in my eyes is a very interesting interpretation of Andy as a man with the rather unorthodox design, their Pavarotti was in my eyes terrible.
