Kyonooto Yamabukiiro

One of the 5 Kyonooto inks. I shall leave the presentation of these inks to someone else.

Yamabukiiro is a yellow ink with a hint of green. It's not too light to be illegible. It's gorgeous. A winner. My favourite among these. When it's wet enough, there'll be a lovely dark edge.

Box

Nice packaging. But the colour on the box is miles away from what it really is. If it were the colour on the box I wouldn't like it.

Splash

(photo, scan. The scan is closer to what I see.)

Sample

It flows well. It's a wet ink, but it doesn't feel lubricating as Sailor inks.

Comparison

1. Yamabukiiro

2. J. Herbin Vert olive

3. Iroshizuku Ina-ho

4. Sailor Kobe Shinkaichi Gold

5. Sailor Kobe Taisanji Yellow

Sheen?

Only when it's wet enough and on Tomoe River can you see a faint sheen. Don't expect to see it in normal writing.

More on Tomoe River

Look at that shading, that dark edge... I'm in love...

I made a murky, yellow-green ink a while back:

Then I remembered that I had a bottle of Yamabuki-iro. When I put them side-by-side they were practically identical. I'm not really that keen on either, but somehow keep using them :-)

as my research goes easily obtained from Rakuten I have posted about these inks a long time ago... Kyoto Bungu TAG inks would be the key word

Thank you.

Thanks for the review. I ordered this sight unseen (mostly because I love my yellow-greens) and your review did not disappoint! I am loving Kokeiro, and I'm glad to see Aonibi and Higashiyama look gorgeous as well. I really like these inks!

Thank you for reviewing all of these inks! I haven't been able to try them yet because I went a little nuts getting all of the Sailors I wanted so I've had to put a hold on new ink purchases and started to part with other inks my collection to pay off my inky debts :/

Like you, this looks like it would be my favorite out of the series, so when funds permit (probably closer to the holidays :) ) I will be on the lookout for a bottle of this one!

Very nice review. While I am not fond of the color, it is an interestingly complex color.
