Stone Road Of Gion - Kyo-Iro

I bought Kyo no oto Kokeiro a while back. The price was 1400 JPY for the bottle, but with tax and shipping I ended up paying 3012 JPY. Also worthy of note is that they come in 40 mL bottles.

 

I haven't tried others in the line yet, but the one I tried certainly is very different than my other inks. I wasn't wowed by it at first, but I appreciate its subtlety now that I have used it more.

I ordered it through Rakuten, and although the ink itself cost only about $13, the shipping cost nearly as much.

 

Unfortunately, my Japanese isn't good enough to permit a study of the shop's shipping rate schedule, so I don't know whether I could have bought multiple bottles for the same shipping cost.

 

I believe most sellers on Rakuten who ship overseas directly use Japan post. Since each bottle has 40ml of ink and a decent bottle, it would be safe to assume that each bottle weighs around 200 grams after packaging.

Japan post rates increase per kg, so after 6th bottle, you can add 3-4 more without shipping rate increase.

so 1-5 bottles would be same, 6-10 would be same and so on.

@visvamitra, I realize your post is almost three years old, but, are you aware of a Diamine ink similar to Kyo-Iro Stone Road Of Gion or Rohrer & Klingner Sepia, to pair with a Faber-Castell Loom in shiny gunmetal? I've looked at Diamine Mozart and Bach, but they are too dark and reddish.

You may want to consider, although it is a bit pricey, Montblanc Swan Illusion Plume. It is similar but with perhaps a bit more grey, which might match better with your FC Loom.

Thank you for your suggestion. I "analyzed" the color of my FC Loom with a great app called Color Grab, and it turns out it is a very unsaturated, slightly dark, brown-yellow hue. I think I'll try Diamine Desert Burst, one of the Les Paul Guitar series inks. It's a close hue, although much more saturated. It should be an interesting pairing.
