Yes! This!! Your review is a work of art of its own merit, and I can't thank you too much for sharing the history, photos, and inspiration.

May I ask, what size ring you ordered? Granted, by nature, wrap rings will be (should be -?) adjustable, but I'd like to begin in the ballpark. What a LOVELY idea for further personalizing a beautiful, clipless handmade pen!

Brilliant review, exquisite photography...and fascinating handwriting...just touched my heart.

I have been a regular user of ASA's fountain pens including the ebonite Nauka and am waiting for the acrylic Nauka too, but I when I saw the Dartmoor acrylic with the roll stopper, I just had to stop and write. The granite look does take the pen to a whole new level. In addition, the serpent stopper also creates a whole new dimension which until I saw it, I had no idea.

This pen and another ASA pen crafted out of a tangerine acrylic blank that I have seen on this forum - both these pens are so very beautiful that they have set me thinking that material, apart from shape and design, could add so much dimension! Thanks for creating such beautiful pens and posting their pictures and reviews.

Regards,

Prabuddha, Jimrie, FPRebel, thank you.

FPRebel, that particular wrap ring comes in only one size. There's a link in the review, and it's smaller than you might think, like around 5.5 American. Having a fairly soft metal like bronze or silver is helpful, because it can be resized more easily, and doesn't scratch the pen cap material.

Nice review and photos! A cool choice of material for the pen plus lots of creativity with the roll stop. I got in with the translucent Nauka group buy, which will be my first pen from India.

Could you provide a rough idea of what it cost to get the pen made? I have been thinking about getting a celluloid pen. So maybe I could track down some pretty celluloid blank (~$30?), ship it to India (~$10?), and have it made into, say, an Asa Patriot ($49). That's about $90. How much of an additional cost is there with going the somewhat custom route? If you do not feel comfortable saying, maybe just a rough idea? Thanks!

Jon, I think you're in the ballpark. Contact Mr. Subramaniam at ASA Pens and ask! His FPN username is below.

Hi Bob,

Thanks for the info. OK, that gives me a rough idea. Sounds like there is not a== $100 extra for using a different material on an existing design. Well, I have a translucent Nauka on the way from the group buy. My first Asa (or any Indian) pen. Let me see what I think about that before bugging Mr. Subramaniam. And I'd need to find a really nice piece of celluloid. I have found some that are nice, but not yet super nice. :)
