Demonstrators

How does the valve work?

It works the same as a traditional Japanese Eye Dropper. The pen is filled like any other eyedropper, by unscrewing the section and filling with ink via an eyedropper or syringe. The plunger enables you to seal the feed from receiving anymore ink and ensures that the pen will not leak should a pressure change occur. Some have also claimed that the plunger allows you to control the wetness of the pen, which may be true on some older vintage pens but I have not experienced it with this pen. I'll link Richard Binder's page on filling mechanisms for further reading.

I bought a lens that I've been wanting for ages this week and attempted some fountain pen photography with it. This is my TWSBI Diamond 580AL (one of my absolute favourites)

Wait! There's a Parker 51 Demonstrator?

Maybe I shouldn't be surprised, but I am.

The nib is by Syahi and it is a threaded nib instead of previous generation friction fit nibs
