Nothing beats the black bakul finish to my opinion it's just gorgeous and got a nice texture to fill which I love very much :)

I love Z's matte finish black bakul pen, so that's what I'll be getting as a replacement for mine. I don't usually care for black pens (I call them "boring black", usually :P ), but I love the one Z ordered, so now I'll have one just like it. I'm sure I will love using it. It's gorgeous, and it feels good in the hand.

Here is a photo of the actual pen. Compare it to the option #7 (yellow and pink ripple) on the first page, and you'll see it looks nothing like the original photo. To say that I don't care for it is an understatement. I'll never ink it up or use it. Thankfully, we have been instructed that we can return it for a pen of a different color, and I thank the OP very much for that. Customer service is, as always, fantastic.

I don't mean to sound negative, but I can't even tell you how disappointed I was to receive a pen that looks absolutely nothing like what I was expecting based on the photos on page 1. I photographed the pen under daylight fluorescent lighting, using my work light. Why this pen looks so different from the original photo on page one is far beyond me. Z also looked it under 3 other light sources (LED, normal incandescent, and actual daylight, outdoors), and was never able to see it as it looks on page one. Olive and Burgundy is what I'd call this color....

My sincerest apologies..

The pics were supplies by manufacturer only..

Next group buy.. I will try my best to click pictures myself.. And hopefully do the justice to colors..

Ours arrived yesterday. The matte black is stunning. The pink and yellow seems more like a burgundy and green colour (it actually looks a lot more like the Pink and Olive ripple in the original photograph) Unfortunately neither of us likes the colour combination that arrived.

However I would like to order a third model 8 now..

Cartridge Converter, Schmidt F nib, Black Bakul regular ebonite

Colour:Regular Colour Black

Finish:Matte

Clip: Gold Coloured Clip

Nib:German Schmidt Gold coloured Fine nib

Filling Mechanism:German Converter

Thanks,

Z

Thank you Z.. For another order..

And I again apologize for the misinterpretation of the colors..

Will try my level best to get the photographs clicked myself.. So that they are close to actual..

If it was Grey and Burgundy I would buy it. Old School Colors. I can understand your disappointment. Sounds like they are going to take care of it for you...

Sympathies for your disappointment. I ordered a blue/olive, then Mr Kandan sent me a link to his eBay listing, which showed the colour as much more khaki than pictured in this thread. I've changed my order to blue/orange ....

Hope you enjoy your substitute pen! Actually, I quite like the colour of yours - but I can see it's nothing like you were expecting.

Yes, they are. We sent the pen back via international priority, yesterday ($32+ to go to India--YIKES!!! :yikes: ), and are having the pen replaced with one of those matte black bakul pens like Z's. I'm surprised at how well I like THAT color/finish, since I don't usually like black pens!

Due to the cost to ship it quickly, though, if such a thing ever happens again, I'll simply order an additional pen that I like better, and either sell or PIF the one I don't like. Or, we'll send it back using some other mode than international priority :P .

Sounds like a good idea. The only reason I can think of for the color difference is that the manufacturer may have used a very bright flash when photographing the pens. Which is all well and good if you're constantly in lighting that bright (blinding, in other words! LOL!), but when you're just using everyday lighting, that just doesn't cut it. It really needs to LOOK like what we're ordering. I'm sure you'll do a great job at getting the photos much closer to the actual pen colors :-).

I have to say that I am very impressed with my pen, and the customer service. I did have an issue with both converters when they arrived but that was quickly remedied (and I have spare converters anyway).

My converters were obviously leaking slightly, if I sucked water into them, not attached to the pen or feed, it dripped back out... in one case pretty fast. To fix this I took the converters apart. Unscrew the silver band at the top of the converter and the black plastic parts (knob and screw piston) can slide out. Then I cleaned the inside of the converter while I had it apart, and most importantly ran my fingernail around the flanges on both ends of the piston, pushing them slightly out. When I put them back in to the converters they held water properly, even after several fill and empty cycles.

For what's it's worth, I've never found the colors in Ranga's stock photos to be any accurate. The blue-black for example is closer to a teal-black in real life. For more accurate colours, you could try looking up Peyton Street Pen's photos (http://www.peytonstreetpens.com/range-indian-ebonite.html). I've found them much more accurate.

Just got these pen and its very pretty to look at, Ill try to post pics if I can ever figure out how to do this on this site. The pen is a lot less elongated than the photos would imply. The mate finish with the dual tone nib looks great. The gold on the clip is lighter than the gold on the nib. The pen is light and comfortable to hold and the JoWo EF nib that was sent lays down a great line with no issue. The Schmidt converter works well after a flush. There are a few white pock/manufacturing marks on the pen but they are not very noticeable.
