Unusual Snorkel Imprint

Some time ago I bought this Snorkel and noticed that its imprint was different. Can anyone shed light on why this imprint is different from the others?

BTW, it does not have the usual imprint farther down on the barrel.

Snorkels with barrel color-matched sections were made during the latter years (1956 to 1959, give or take), and this goes along with Roger's input.

That's a beautiful pen you have there. I like it a lot.

Thanks. I chased fern green for quite a while. Still looking for peacock and vermillion (I have a fiesta red clipper and a buckskin Statesman to trade).

I have maybe a half dozen other Snorkels with colored-matched sections (I like that term better than "self-colored"), but this is the only one with this imprint. In fact it's the only Snorkel among my 45 or so with it. I don't think Richard Binder mentions it in his Snorkel article. I've searched and find nothing on these imprints. Same in, fact, with Script PdAg nibs. Both are probably late 50s developments, like color-matched sections. Anyone have any documentation?

I've got a couple with that imprint, as well as a few with no imprint at all.

Look what came in the mail today. Yet another unusual imprint. This one is mentioned by Richard Binder in his Snorkel article.

Yeah, there's at least one in eBay right now. They're not exactly rare.
