Well...people go and say bad things about Volkswagen but nobody attacks their character. Bad business is bad business.

I'd be glad to. In there should be a Ralph Nader clause hoping to inform the consumer. From the same business I write happily with a no problems 144 celluloid OBBB. It's too much to expect the same from the same seller and there's a gag order from sharing my experience with other enthusiasts?

The Rules are quite clear and include:

Likewise, "naming and shaming" is prohibited on The Fountain Pen Network. Naming and shaming can be construed as defamation, libel, and/or slander. All threads and posts found to be in violation of this rule will be closed or removed without further discussion.

I hope that the Moderators soon address this issue.

First of all: my contacts with Tom were always impeccable, thanks to him I could add some really rare pens to my collection.

I don't understand why FPN bows to the diktat of Montblanc and in the meantime allows this violation of its own rules.

Ok folks, good luck. I sent a pen in August with permission, received in September, informed in November it would certainly be fixed, in April received apology for lack of contact, and still have not received it nor made notice of shipping. I would very much like to know what about sharing that timeline of events construes defamation, libel, or slander? I am a doctor. If I receive word your chest x-ray has a possible although highly unlikely yet possible sign of lung cancer, it is my duty to inform you of the finding immediately if not sooner. My failure to do so is reason to renege my very medical license to practice if not sue me for millions if the finding delays your care. And yet we protect a business who cannot communicate with customers and fail to follow through on a promise to fix a pen? Who the heck are we serving here?

Ladies and gentlemen

There is the false belief that no negative observations are allowed on FPN.

However, there is a fine distinction between objectively stating facts and asking for possible explanations/solutions, and naming-shaming and bashing.

Clearly the OP in this topic was in the first category. That is allowed.

However such questions are usually followed by several observations of the "me too" and the "no, not me" type.

And often these reactions lead to heated discussions where especially the persons of the "me too"-type feel the urge to defend their claim by more agitated responses as reply to statements of disbelief. It is there that topics like these sometimes derail into rising unpleasantness.

Please do not let yourself be lured into that trap, to try to defend your claim against disbelievers. Just state your facts, and leave it at that. If you have valuable information for the OP or other persons with the same problem, please provide those, but don't start arguing back and forth.

If you adhere to this, topics like the current one are certainly allowed, if you don't it gets unpleasant, topics get closed and members get warnings.

So let's return to the question at hand.

I understand your frustration and I can sympathise. I also think it is healthy that reputable sellers get some slightly negative comments every now and then- this is more realistic, nobody can be perfect.

However, as a pathologist, I completely disagree with your comments about comparing your profession to a fountain pen repair business. Clearly remember please that you are in a regulated PROFESSION.
