"Metal" in this context means "base metal", as opposed to, say, silver or gold. The word "laton" ("brass") has also been used. Montblanc's "Pix" logo has also appeared on the underside of clips to add a trademarked word.

-- Joel -- "I collect expensive and time-consuming hobbies."

INK (noun): A villainous compound of tannogallate of iron, gum-arabic and water,

chiefly used to facilitate the infection of idiocy and promote intellectual crime.

(from The Devil's Dictionary, by Ambrose Bierce)

Came back from the Montblanc service center and had them confirm that the pen was real. The box and service guide are authentic, they're new. So new in fact that the lady thought it was fake as she had never seen it before. Luckily I got that all sorted.

I recently bought a new Montblanc 146 Legrand fountain pen. The box and service manual also say made in china, just as in this post. The clip has "Made in Germany" and "Metal" stamped on the underside. My pen doesn't have "Pix" either on the clip underside or on the pen cap ring. Also the nib doesn't have 14K engraved on it, rather it has "Au585". I became concerned that I had bought a fake until reading this thread. I am reassured somewhat, but if anyone has additional comments, I would appreciate the input.

My Antoine St. Exupery that I purchased a few weeks ago has "Made in Germany" and "Metal" on the underside of the clip, as does my Ultra Black purchased from a MB Boutique during the Summer. No pix designation. In that regard you don't have anything to worry about.

Why would the fakes go to all this trouble to make a fake leaflet that Montblanc never made. I assume the new service guide is used in certain markets since this was stamped in 2014. I will pay the service center a visit.

Regards,

Brad

I have the same pen it's real :) don't worry.
