Not that much difference, except the smell of ammonia of Sidol, which I dislike.

I have used Sidol successfully for over 20 years, and I'm still using it.

I'm still curious to see if something like simicrome do a quicker job but if you say so i'll stick with Sidol too since i can buy it for less than 2€ :D

If you want to try, I bought losso polisher on ebay, after having seen many reviews of it.

I payed something in between 15 and 20 euros, inclusive shipment.

The only thing I have used for the last 8-10 years is Simichrome, very gently! Then when I get the finish I am after, I come back over it with Renaissance Wax! I know that I am fighting an up hill battle against the pro's, so to speak.....But I have yet to have a Pen "blow up" on me in any way between these two product's. While it's true that Simichrome get's into all the crack's and you also have to be careful around the nib, as it will go into the holes of a nib and get down to the feed. But what I do to combat both of these issues, is immediately after applying the Simichrome and buffing it to the desired finish I am looking for, is go and rinse the Simichrome off in the sink until it it is removed from all the cracks and crevices! I would also like to point out that I do NOT use this process on pens with a finish to match say a Mont Blanc. I have another process for those that is a two, sometimes a three step process.

A toothbrush should help removing the simichrome from cracks and crevices I guess. I like the simichrome method.

Yes, the toothbrush method will work, But NOT when the Simichrome get's behind the nib and onto the feed. That's where you need warm water to rinse it out from under there as you cannot get a toothbrush under the nib :-)

Good advice!

Another question, does the Simichrome remove hairline scratches from the barrel?

And do you use it only on plastic? Would it work for ebonite, celluloid, etc..?

Nice! Thank you! I did not know what exactly to buy as I did not fully understand the difference between all the products offered in http://www.vintagepensacsandparts.com/ , even though I asked them but still was unsure.

Anyway thanks again!
