J. Herbin Cacao Du Bresil

Here's my scan of J. Herbin's Cacao du Bresil, the mysterious brown/grey ink.

The color is quite nice though it's definitely on the muted side and it's less contrast-y than a darker color, though I still find it quite readable. Seems nice and wet and flows well in the 2 pens I've tried it in, no hard starts or skips, no real show or bleed (except the dark end of the scribble) and barely smeared when I wiped it with a damp swab.

The line was nice and consistent in the Parker Frontier F; it was a bit darker and showed some shading with the Baoer 388 M, which seems odd as the line actually looks a bit narrower than the Frontier's to my eye.

This is probably too pale for business use but fine for personal use. Looks good against white paper but I'd avoid colored papers that might lower the contrast even more.

It's a rather a delicate color that won't be to everyone's taste but I find it lovely and am glad I bought it.

I think this scan came out well; it seems to accurately reproduce the color.

It's hard work to tell which is Old Harry when everybody's got boots on.

Thank you very much for the review. This is one of my favorites but as you said not for correspondence, at least for business. It is great for sketching, lots of nuance.

Love all, trust a few, do harm to none. Shakespeare
