Midnight Blue - Papier Plume

Papier Plume is s stationery shop situated in the heart of the French Quarter in New Orleans. The company began its business in 2001 however the shop was opened in 2007. From what I see on google maps the shop looks quite nice.

Some time ago the company started to offer fountain pen inks. They're supposed to be hand poured and bottled right in the shop. The inks are water based and described as french inks (imported? anyone knows french private label maker?). At the moment the inks are available in 15 colors and are sold in three bottles: small (15 ml), medium (30 ml), big (50 ml):

I've received samples of fourteen colors and I'll review them soon. The full line consists of:

  1. Black
  2. Burgundy
  3. Carmel
  4. Denim
  5. Forest Green
  6. Forget-me-not Blue
  7. Lover's Red
  8. Ivy Green
  9. Midnight Blue
  10. Moss Green
  11. Oyster Grey
  12. Peacock Blue
  13. Pecan
  14. Red
  15. Violet

Midnight Blue isn't a typical blue-black I expected. It's better and more complex. Kind of Evening Blue? It has nice flow and offers some water resistance. Drying time is reasonable.

Thanks for the review.

This one is a maybe for me (oh, yeah, like I don't already have more blue and blue-black inks than any other color...).

Hi, I'm thinking of getting a bottle of this for my friend, but there aren't many reviews on PP inks out there.... I wonder how your writing samples look now, after about one month? Do they fade, or change into a grey/green leaning shade?

Thanks!

Hi, Vis,

I was in the shop last week, and the owner says he is planning to make some New Orleans-themed inks (maybe limited editions). You might contact him to see what his timeline is. He says he does make the inks in the shop. He gets the ingredients and then mixes them himself.

I picked up Lover's Red and Peacock Blue.

The shop is indeed very nice (and there's a great little cafe across the street from it--Cafe Amelie--tasty desserts! Get the chocolate pie!).

Looking good Vis! I think the inks are nice. I noticed that Vaness is now carrying them in addition to the Papier Plume website.

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

I don't see colors well. Is this a purple leaning blue, like an indigo? Looks fabulous whatever it is.
