The "bird Bug": Pics Of The Flock

Wow what a beautiful flock and a family affair to boot.

Thanks, GordonOz. Indeed, it is a family affair - we actually talk "pens" over meals and at other times. So, even though I don't know anyone else that collects pens, I have with whom to chat about it.

This is a beautiful collection. I especially like your line of M80xs and I wish I hadnt sold my blue M800 last year. But I will be getting it back hopefully this year.

Thank you, Fplover01.

The M80xs are more like an addiction than anything :) . Since I bought my first one, every time I'm ready to buy another pen I look around and, in the end, almost always end up with another M80x.

I hope you get the Blue M800 back as soon as possible.

Just received an M1005 Demonstrator to go along with my black and black/green M1000s. I'm a bit odd in that these are my first three birds and my collection has started from the top down. I'm trying very hard not to start in on the M80x series. This is a deep hole and I'm trying not to fall too fast.

I like that photo! And the M1005 demo is amazing. Now you just need the black 1005  .

It's a very wise decision to avoid the M800's, since they are the most addictive pens that I know  . I have a hard time buying anything else ever since I got my first (and I already had a M1000 by then).

Good luck with <that> resolution! :D ;) I think we are all here for the same reason...we lack restraint (or funds)!

My resolve turns out to be weaker than I thought. I had some eBay bucks to use this month and am now waiting on a black/blue m805 and a black m805.

Lack restraint?? No way! Its already been 10 days, 8 h and 23 min since I bought my last pen...

As for funds, I've already told the wife to cut the groceries by 50%! You know, with the increase in the price of the birds, one has to have the priorities straight...

Congrats! The M80x are amazing. The hard part now is to resist the temptation of having them all.

Good call on the grocery cutback!!!:)

Food is so over-rated......!!

MY wife DOES draw the line on priorities, though....

No more making candles from ear wax to save on the electric bill!!!

Always try to get the dibs....on fountain pens with EF nibs!!

How could I not think of this too? I bet I would have already saved enough for that Toledo that I want badly! :D

Lots of ways to prioritize!!

Sell your bedroom set.....Sleep on the dining room table (you won't be eating on it anymore, since you gave up food...)!

Sell your car....Do that 90-minute commute to work by bike....or, better yet....WALK! (Think of Minnesota winters as...."invigorating".....!!)

Lastly.....Sell your house...buy a used Winnabego....and "camp out" at the pen show(s) of your choice!!

That leftover $$ from the sale of the house should net at least a FEW "Grail Pens"....;)

(NOTE!! That last one only works if you're single!! If you're married, "spouse gets the house"...but (s)he will probably buy the Winnie FOR you ---just to get you away ASAP!)

The author, upon questioning, will neither confirm nor deny ANY of the aforementioned ideas...!!

Of all the suggestions, I think the winner is to walk to work and think of the Minnesota winter as invigorating :yikes: :lticaptd: .

But probably none of us has been either :)

I was having a hard time resisting the newly released M805 Vibrant Blue. So, I had a "serious" talk with the wife, asking what she thinks. The answer: "I think you should buy it".

As an obedient husband I'll be forced to comply :D .

Oh no, they're multiplying.

(I've been soaking the M1005 for about a day now, and if anyone has any ideas as to how to remove the pink staining in the section, I'm all ears. I hear that ultrasonic cleaners are good, so I might invest in one.)

Beautiful flock! And, apparently, fast breeders! :D

I had a M200 Demo stained by Edelstein Topaz a couple of months ago and heard that Sailor Doyou was great for removing the stains. So I bought the Doyou and put in it: it stained even worse, and I ended with a "cognac" demo :P . Then I put Edelstein tanzanite in it and it became near clear again. After that I put Edelstein aventurine and it is now perfect again. So, I would try putting some less aggressive inks and see if it helps to remove the stains. I hope you manage to clean it, because that M1005 is a beauty! Good luck.

Thanks for the advice. I'll have to give one of those a try. The "offending" ink, for those curious, was a sample of Iroshizuku Tsutsuji (merely dipped).

I had a stain from PR "Naples Blue" in the feed section of my M200 Demonstrator what was quite stubborn. I researched the issue and used S.B.R.E. Brown's suggested mixture of 10% household bleach and 90% water; immersing only the feed area in the cleaning solution, after a couple of days the blue faded away completely... YMMV.
