Hi there,

Wonder if you can help me... I have two pens, probably run of the mill ones but I would be interested to know what they are. Both have boxes.. not sure if they are the correct ones though! Anyway I have taken some pics, not very good but i have tried and any help would be appreciated, thanks Cherie

Others will chime in with details, but the one with the arrow on the hood is a Parker 61, the other, a Parker 45. Nice looking pens, what's the filling system on the 61? Another photo will help. :)

First pen looks like a Parker 61, from the arrow on the hood; can't tell from the photos if it's a capillary filler model or not (the later 61s took converters, but I like the capillary fillers myself). Second pens appears to be a Parker 45 with the original squeeze filler.

"It's very nice, but frankly, when I signed that list for a P-51, what I had in mind was a fountain pen."

A parker 61 (the first one) and probably a Parker 45 (the second one). I say probably becayse I can't see the nib unit of the (second) pen.

Parker 61 and 45. Both extremely good models and very good writers. I would not call them run of the mill. The Parker 45 was a lower priced pen but an extremely successful pen for Parker and many people including myself use them as our daily use pens.

The 61 was a high end fairly expensive pen. Both considered vintage now but still being used very much.

^^^ What those guys said ^^^

More specifically, the Parker 61 is a De Luxe judging by the cap & clip (if original to the pen, obvs). The De Luxe was discontinued in 1964, I believe, and should therefore be a capillary filler - post pics of the internals for confirmation - the clutch ring is certainly consistent with a MK II Parker 61 of this period (although this feature is also shared with the converter MK III, too.

The '45 seems to be a post 1979 model, judging by the barrel end, but I'm not yer man for 45s.

As for the cases, the cardboard jobbie is a sixties case, so presumably, goes with the 61 (although it's quite a low rent case for a 61!) & the black plastic clamshell will almost certainly be correct for a late seventies '45.

I assume this is a preamble to listing on Evilbay? If so, expect anywhere between £30 - £60 for the 61 & between £15 - £30 for the 45 dependent on condition & pics plus description. Sh1t pics will get you sh1t prices.

Regards,

Frank

Edit: Disregard my thoughts re the 61 being a De Luxe - those pics you've just added are of a MK III converter, and a later one at that, and the barrel is stainless, so I guess you have a MK III FLIGHTER. Sorry, my fault for not paying attention! Values still the same as my original post, though.

You're welcome Cherie.

Just remember it's a Parker 61 MK III Flighter & not a De Luxe! (Can't believe I didn't notice the stainless barrel - what a dumbass...).

I'm sure a bit of practice with that camera of yours & you'll be reet.

Regards,

Frank
