Esterbrook Dollar Pen Clip

How do I disassemble the clip of a esterbrook dollar pen?

Remove the inner cap. There will be three or four prongs that are folded over to secure the clip in place. You need to straighten them and lift the clip up and off.

 

Better way is to cut off the bad clip sacrifice the donor cap by cutting out the clip then transplanting.

There is no donor cap, I need to work on the same clip and cap , (and better do it right, otherwise will end up with a pen with no cap).
